I posted about public criminality and the police not doing their job. Your first reply came across as belittling and telling me to put up with it. So I told you some of the behaviour I'm having to put up with.

You started it by saying, in effect, that I should just shrug and put up with it.

Photo 14, as well. And I think some of the smaller pieces should probably have been discreetly put in a cupboard somewhere, too.

Do you think we haven't done that already?

Public drug taking and dealing and prostitution should damn well be a priority. I shouldn't have to dodge dirty blokes getting blow jobs from desperate women to get in my own front door.

I think it still is his house - the last record of sale is 1995. but if it isn't his house currently, he can't really be held responsible for the decorative choices of the current owner.

Perhaps we could recommend to the vendor: Hannah Lee, "Serving as Ornament: The Representation of African People in Early Modern British Interiors and Gardens", British Art Studies, Issue 21, doi.org/10.17658/iss...

A statue of a black African. The statue is on a black pedestal with gold trim. The statue is kneeling on one knee and wearing a red and gold suit and a turban.

So much of British policing boils down to the idea that there's no point dealing with Low Intensity Crime even though Low Intensity Crime is the crime 90% of people have to deal with

A Police Inspector once told me, with an entirely straight face, "We can't do anything about the prostitution and drug dealing and use on your estate because it happens after the Safer Neighbourhood Team's shift has finished."
"That's the stupidest excuse for not doing your job I've ever heard."

Fire safety breaches revealed in London's illegal schools Authorities say that pupils lives are being put at risk by fire safety breaches in illegal schools

It's also a matter of public safety. These tiny private "schools" are often in unsafe buildings and the teachers are not always CRB checked, or qualified to teach.

I think it was Lenny Henry (yes, that one, born in Dudley), who was amused and baffled in equal measure at being described as "African American" on an American tour he did.

"We can't have that, junkies might use it!"
"You're saying we can't have any improvements because of potential ASB?"
"Yes!"
And the same people complain the place is a tip and the council don't do anything.

There's a bridge link near me that was a right old tatty eyesore. Planters that hadn't been maintained, damaged road surface etc. The council proposed a rain garden, new paving with a clear demarcation between pedestrians and cyclists. 1/2
