You may have a point. The language they use is "using gemini" which I suppose could just mean that if you use gemini, they'll have access to your emails. But if you turn off smart features -- gemini -- you can't use it. That doesn't necessarily meaning that they're training off of it.

If you have the Gmail "promotions" "social" tabs -- Google is training their AI by reading your e-mails.
Go to Settings and turn off Smart Features if you don't want them training their AI off of your e-mails. It'll get rid of tabs for some reason (I didn't like them anyway).
