Agreed that “fatigue” doesn’t quite fit. There is fatigue, I think, but from more than just AI. Constant and rapid change is exhausting to human brains and tech is largely not a restorative tool. The roll out of AI into everything has been rushed and it’s not making lives demonstrably better.

I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.
I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.

America’s Children Are Unwell. Are Schools Part of the Problem?
I don't think I've ever disagreed and agreed more strongly with a piece, seesawing from one paragraph to the next.
Will come back to dissect.

From Merriam-Webster: read (v)
a1: to receive or take in the sense of (letters, symbols, etc.) esp by sight or touch
b: to learn from what one has seen or found in writing or printing
It does not say ONLY by sight or touch nor ONLY letters. And “found” is unspecified as to how.
Audio counts.

Forcing people to use AI w/ the argument more=better is like thinking that a giant bowl of slop will magically transform into something edible by adding two drops of high quality ingredients. With AI (or on the Internet at all) you have 8 bad answers and 2 good ones, you don’t end up 2 good answers.

YouTube video by Thriving Autistic
Lightbulb Moments: Being Autistic
Lightbulb Moments: Being Autistic is an animation about those things that people tend to think are just individual quirks, until they realise they're common Autistic experiences.
It's so important to feel seen!
Many of these are very commonly misunderstood.

The fantasy is a Jarvis for everyone - best friend, confidante, et al, but the reality is going to be the dilution of humanity, a stripping away of human connection, human thought and real autonomy in society.

Yes, they have an outsized view of themselves in relation to the everyperson. They view their success like an anointing of a completely unique exceptionalism that only they could possibly attain and is theirs alone to share as they see fit because everyone else is beneath them.

When I read the name I immediately understood. Prometheus challenged the Gods for the good of humanity. He is the underdog hero of the story and that’s how these “Titans” of tech see themselves. They believe they are saviors of humanity rather than the cruel powerful gods many of the public see.

It’s really loss of time that can’t made up. It’s like lost sleep. You don’t really catch up because you can’t ever get it back. Students experienced gaps in learning but expectations and many processes remained the same and it’s simply unrealistic.

Statements like, “The system is broken,” absolve the people in charge of it of their responsibility. The System isn’t broken. The System doesn’t have thoughts and feelings. It doesn’t make mistakes. It’s simply working as well as the people in charge are running it.

The Most Dangerous AI Tool for Libraries Yet
How Class-Shelf Plus v3 quietly turns censorship into an automated workflow and why every librarian should be alarmed.
AI is now being used to “flag” school library books.
The new CLCD tool, Class-Shelf Plus v3, may speed up censorship under the guise of efficiency.
This development should alarm every librarian and educator. #TLSky #EduSkyAi #libraries #censorship open.substack.com/pub/aischool...

This is no better than an outright book ban. When select identities and ideas are sidelined, the message is clear that only some are acceptable. Meanwhile AI chatbots hallucinate and social media does real mental harm to kids. But sure, books are the problem.
Have a spine. Keep books on shelves.

I got my son’s disability diagnosis 13 years ago. That day rushed back with Tylenol-autism headlines | CNN
Regardless of the cause, mothers of kids with autism and other disabilities may feel responsible for their children’s challenges. Here are four ways to cope.
“…mothers and caregivers that they should focus on mental health …— but how to do that without institutional support?
The talk is all about cause and cure and fix and treat, and there aren’t a lot of conversations around support, resources, programs and financial backing.”
So much of this.
