I cannot stop mentioning how the trump administration wouldn’t be drowning in any of this if they hadn’t spent years making The Files a partisan issue. If they just hadn’t done that or made those 2024 campaign promises, this wouldn’t be happening to them

Lieu plays Bondi the infamous clip of Trump & Epstein partying together & asks her if there were underaged girls at any party the two attended

"This is so ridiculous," Bondi says. "There's no evidence that Donald Trump has committed a crime"

"I believe you just lied under oath," Lieu replies

Line graph showing both revenues and spending falling behind old projections.

The most important thing to understand about the debt:

Yes, spending is rising – due to demographics & health care cost growth

But taxes used to be on pace to match that rising spending

Then we cut taxes and now it isn't

Spending is rising slower than expected, so tax cuts bear 100% of the blame

Bluesky in a nutshell.

Some context: BLS released its jobs numbers today, which were better than expected, and resistance libs would rather stay mad/conspiratorial than listen to actual on-the-ground experts that the data is still reliable.

wow -- Bondi throws a fit in response to Nadler's question about how many of Epstein's co-conspirators, if any, she's investigating, aggressively pointing at him and yelling. The hearing then devolves into chaos and Raskin and Bondi start yelling at each other.

Asked to apologize to rape victims for failing to redact their personal information, the attorney general instead demanded that members of Congress apologize to the president for impeaching him, boasted about the stock market, and declared him the most transparent president in U.S. history.

I understand general suspicion of the administration, but it's important to be grounded in what's actually happening in the data production process.

Job growth in the supposedly terrible Biden economy of 2023-24 averaged 192k per month. With 2021-22 it's even higher.

In the supposedly great pre-COVID Trump economy of 2/17-2/20, it averaged 181k.

Now one month of 130k is praised as strong growth, because standards are lower for one special boy.

A broad measure of US underemploymentβ€”including the formally unemployed plus people who want a job but aren't in the labor force or who are working part-time but want a full-time jobβ€”is down from its November high of 11% but has still risen from 9.6% to 10.3% over the last year

The number of Americans stuck in unemployment for 6+ months represents deep pain. The recent rise due to low hire rates means lots of struggle.

It ticked down to 1.84 million from 1.95 million, which is welcome but noisy signal. Hope that continues.

Seeing some nice posts and Jason Crow f-bombs but the truth is this administration is currently prosecuting Democratic elected officials, candidates and staff in Chicago and it’s going to trial. They believe targeting lower profile officials will let them get away with neutering the 1st amendment.

U.S. jobs growth is *entirely* one sector.

Last month, growth in private education and health services accounted for +137k of +130k jobs added

Over the past three months, it's +246k of +219k

Last six months: +367k of +85k

Last year: +773k of +359k

Yikes here are the numbers for the past 12 months. Everything is pretty much dead except healthcare/social assistance. Note that healthcare growth is largely not about the business cycle -- it's about the aging of the population and more elderly people needing care.
