I feel like this is inherently enforced by wargames themselves - like, you can look at a D&D character sheet and mostly muddle your way through playing, whereas in a (miniatures, at least) wargame, you _need_ to learn the rules or you ain't playing the game.

I'd also argue that it depends on what wargames you're playing - e.g. something like "Crossfire" (and my own "Eleven Bravo" as a descendant) doesn't have designated player turns - players swap initiative based on actions and reactions.

Just gave it a quick skim and this is great so far! I actually wanted to write a 2v2 knight and squire warband game yonks ago and this is giving me a lot of inspiration.

This looks HELLA fun! As a HEMA practitioner, this scratches an itch for HEMA-inspired games that I didn't know I had.

Hey Rev! I'm working on an as-yet-unnamed set of Wild West skirmish rules that use a deck of cards to determine action economy and initiative! I've typically done stat or dice based initiative systems before, so this is new to me!

So this is where all those bells went... 😅
