the issue with that is assuming Healing Potions are a setting thing and not a mechanic thing.
besides outside of games what settings have a "healing potion" that isnt also a clusterfuck of kitchen sink bullshit

im pretty sure so many "gamers" don't like video games. This constant negativity around games announcements (to the point of near dismission that others may find joy in a a genre you dont) its all so baffling. Im not even sure what kind of game these people are expecting or wanting?

The game Blurred Lines by Guilherme Gontijo is a solo Gaillo game where you play a photographer by using a post it note on a map and labelling the foreground, midground and background. You label one and find the others in play - That to me is the neatest "camera" mechanic in ttrpg

In retrospect, with so many attempts at live-service games flopping, there's something really funny about FromSoftware proving that they had a winning formula for a live-service game with Nightreign, and then refusing to turn it into one. Further still, not even dipping into cosmetic DLC with it.

eh rather be in a niche than appeal to people who dont find mechanics and games appealing. seems like a losing battle.

I do think its interesting that while I GM the most i prefer to be a passive (or reactive) GM and a proactive player. Which is opposite to the norm i feel. (i love running sandboxes for this reason)

Something i like about random tables is how they share authority from the GM back onto the game (same can be said for prewritten adventures) which is important for OSR and related games that put a lot of authority inherently on the GM

okay this is interesting, so its like a point crawl but but said "points" being much more expanded "nodes" - i can see this having an interesting story act function too. Kinda how space travel works in a lot of games?
doesnt work for what i have in mind, but does for something else so thank you.

people uphold OSR as a uniquely confusing term, but it's just the normal shit that comes with any art movement. Is it exclusive to this core group of people, a specific place in time, is it now a genre, are we post that movement, is it dead, etc. from the arts and craft movement to the new weird.

Has anyone wrote about blending hexcrawls and pathcrawls? For example going over lush plains is a hexcrawl but getting to thick woods, or mountains or canyons means a pathcrawl.

Depth Crawls lend themselves very well to Solo

I wonder if anyone else does this but for Horror games and Solo play i make heavy use of the soundpads from tabletop audio. Not for every game mind you, but those with the desire of atmosphere like mothership - the heavy breathing of being in a vac suit or the gloop of unknown cosmic slime.
