No disrespect to the authors, but I don't understand the point of studying an LLM's ability to answer medical-themed MCQs. We are 2 years past that being relevant.

11.08.2025 18:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a physician who worked at a VA for 14 years, I can't imagine choosing to work at one today.
But the Trump admin doesn't care, and if anything, they see this as a win because it supports their long-standing desire to fully privatize the VA b/c of $.
And our vets will be the worse off for it.

From my YouTube video I posted about him 2 days ago:
"Talking about him kind of makes me sad...However, now since talking about him feels unavoidable, Iβm going to say everything that I have ever had to say about Prasad, so I never feel obligated to circle back to him again."

IANAL, but don't we have a federal court system to fight this absurd abuse of power? Yes, I get that SCOTUS is compromised to the point of near-useless, but other courts would hear the case first.

RFK has announced that he is developing a vaccine against all viruses. Yes, every single one. The whole, uh, "phylum"

It's another good reminder of the profound state of corruption of the current federal judiciary that these kinds of openly/criminal actions can take place and citizens have no recourse to the courts. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/08/u...

The COVID contrarian to MAHA pipeline is really something. I can see them doing even more lasting harm within MAHA than they did during the pandemic.
As pointed out by @joho.bsky.social, I prob should have leaned into specific details of VP's misinfo more.
I also agree that for all of VP's faults at the FDA, his replacement will likely be even worse.

I should have made that last point in my video too.
Lastly, I enjoyed your linked piece on Science Based Medicine. I agree that his courting RFK Jr - which I believe was a deliberate ploy of his to get an administration position - will be a major permanent stain on his reputation.
6/
This led to a positive feedback cycle of him blocking people and refusing to engage in good faith discussion, which further increased his contrarian biases, pushing him further from the truth, and which led to even more hostility from the mainstream medical community, and so on.
5/
But I do think his tone and the misinfo content were more tightly linked than you may be suggesting. His lack of decorum increased the toxicity in his interactions with med professionals of more conventional opinions.
4/
It was also a huge problem that he spent zero effort on moderating his social media comments (aside from blocking critics) or pushing back when people said absurd or outrageous things on his feed/videos.
I don't recall a single time when he corrected a follower for saying something incorrect.
3/
For one thing, I agree that I should have better highlighted his misinformation, particularly on the vaccines. His fixation on vaccine-induced myocarditis was a major blind spot for him and did public harm by reducing confidence in vaccines more generally.

Thanks for watching, and appreciate the feedback. For most of my videos, I work on them over a handful of weeks giving me plenty of time for revisions. When putting out a long-form video with such short turnaround, I was expecting some shortcomings...

I strongly suspect that among other things, the EO requiring Trump political appointees to review grants is a strategy to funnel NIH funding to red states while starving blue states of research money.
Remember that very recently, a bunch of Republican Senators complained about NIH cuts.

Vinay Prasad is one of the most polarizing figures in Medicine. I suspect his supporters will accuse this video of being too harsh, while his detractors will accuse it of being too kind.

What cowardice is this @sltrib.com? You're a well established local paper for a major US city.
Are you really trying to claim you don't cover rape cases?!?
The constitution. They sliced out the parts of the constitution that they donβt like from the government website.
Yet another reminder that in an aspiring authoritarian government, you should never rely on online document as definitive sources.
I think a Democratic controlled state should deliberately force this discussion by developing a gerrymandered map so absurd that it leaves literally not one Republican district.
