People are being very obvious about using the phrase "feeling unsafe" in place of "being super racist" lately

Hartsfield-Jackson is as large and busy as an airport can get and somehow runs more smoothly than any other. It’s definitely overwhelming if you don’t travel often but anybody who flies regularly recognizes how good it is.

Hartsfield-Jackson: i can get there by Marta, I know exactly where the CFA is, layout makes sense, plane train works, and it makes every other airport you go to seem small and manageable.

Let me also add Charleston and Hartford for smaller airports.

Both have designs that make sense and are easy to get in/out of.

I know some people will roll their eyes, but Atlanta is also a good airport in the sense the design makes sense.

The terminals are straight lines with transportation to the others in the middle.

Birmingham, Portland, Detroit, and Austin are all good airports.

Having Birmingham to fly out of instead of having to drive to and originate in Atlanta is such a perk. Easy to get in and out of.

That's what I always try to do - "Would this play well for the festival?" is always my first thought.

And with docs - I always say that if the doc is poorly made, I'm usually going to learn something.

If narrative is poorly made, it's a whole different experience.

I screen shorts for Sidewalk, but I keep it to doing documentary shorts for the reasons you list above and others. Judging narrative shorts can be a chore.

this is why there's a persistent propaganda campaign in conservative media to portray cities as crime-ridden hellholes, because rural conservatives understanding how conservative politics have fucked up their own communities would be devastating to them.

It’s not gatekeeping to suggest that someone who’s yapping should know what they’re talking about.

Traditional reviews are so important for the health of the film industry. Filmmakers both big and small need reviews, festivals need reviews, and there are fewer and fewer places willing to pay writers for reviews. There’s way more demand (from distributors) for reviews than supply of critics.
