Henry Kelly was born on 17 April 1946 and passed away on 25 February 2025 at the age of 78. He was a radio and television broadcaster, actor and journalist from the Republic of Ireland. He started at The Irish Times newspaper in 1968. He moved to BBC Radio 4 8 years later. In 1981, Kelly became part of the new LWT show Game for a Laugh. He left the show and went on to other shows. He had a game show called Monkey Business on BBC 1, chaired After Dark on Channel 4, hosted TV-am, played himself in a sketch on Victoria Wood As Seen on TV and presented BBC's Food and Drink programme. His big quiz show was Going for Gold, the first pan-european game show in which anyone in Europe could take part. Initially a BBC and Super Channel co-production. Kelly hosted all 703 episodes over 10 series. In 1992, Henry was one of the first presenters on the new Classic FM radio station. In later years, he was on dinnerladies, A Touch of Cloth, Celebrity Eggheads, Pointless Celebrities, What Are You Like?, An Audience Without Jeremy Beadle, That's What I Call Television, Celebrity Mastermind, The Podge and Rodge Show, A Legacy, Tubridy Tonight and Celebrity Weakest Link.
