For people who have been brought up on over 50 years of βtraditionalβ test cricket I can understand that the change to the new era might be difficult for some.
It was frustrating but you canβt have the good shots without the occasional lapse
Enjoy the ride π

Between 10-20% depending on the definition of a scoring shot ?
Might be a good question for Andy Zaltzman

Agreed - but I would like to point out that lots of runs are scored from non attacking strokes
eg defensive edge through the slips for 4

Donβt get out the habit of going to a match. Simply switch to your local non league team
No problem supporting two teams when they are so far apart (football wise) and the non league team will be much more appreciative of your support

Sadly it happens far too often.
Easier said than done but protecting the ground as a community asset that cannot be sold for development is a must for all clubs.
What is the position for the players. Are they now free agents able to look for another club?

When was the rule changed ?
Was it after (prompted by) the famous Liverpool beach ball incident?

Was Bob Wilson a legitimate contender for the 1970 World Cup squad?
The rules changed in 1970 and he became eligible to play for Scotland which he did in 1971.
Makes me think nobody thought he was good enough for England.

Proposed rule change - if the game is stopped for a head injury, that player must go off the pitch for a full head impact assessment. (should take c5 mins)
Serious injuries demand this time out of the game and it will penalise players deliberately stopping the game as a time wasting opportunity

Not what I said.
Of course I donβt think that peaceful protestors should be arrested
Just pointing out the difference between a pro Palestine / anti genocide protest and positively supporting the Palestine Action Group who have caused millions of pounds of damage which I canβt condone
19.07.2025 20:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Whatever the rights and wrongs (and Iβm very pro Palestine and anti genocide) a placard that is specifically designed to support the Palestine Action group is sadly asking for trouble.
We can argue whether they should be a proscribed terrorist group but their actions to date are not to be condoned

If the ball goes out of shape (fails the ring test) does that actually disadvantage the bowling side.
There is no doubt that attempts to change the ball only happen when βnothing is happeningβ
There must be some sort of penalty to discourage frequent speculative attempts

This is obviously an unwritten code between teams / riders but there must be a dividing line between when this is implemented or not
Would be interesting to know what the threshold is

Thanks - The final confirmed figure may well support your claim (and I expect it probably will)
But for the time being the key words here are βthe investigation is ongoingβ
A couple of very speculative guesstimates (and I expect the Telegraph to over estimate) doesnβt really count as evidence π

I am quite happy to agree the wider damage and costs relating to various incidents (and obviously the paint damage costs massively exceeded my original thoughts)
However, the article you referenced does not directly support or evidence your claim as the cost of the paint damage is not quantified.
