MICROBIOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES
Ph.D. SPEAKER EVENT
University College Cork, Cork, Ireland
Supervisor: Cormac Gahan
Title: Unveiling the Role of Diet, Gut Microbiome, and Host Response in Listeria monocytogenes Resistance
Monica will present her work on Listeria monocytogenes. She will explore the potential of chitin and its derivatives as dietary intervention molecules and their promising impact on both the host and the pathogen. Moreover, she will outline the crucial role of the gut microbiome in Listeria resistance, drawing insights from two distinct infection models.
Thursday 16th November
14:00-15:00
AL G18 - UCC
The next speaker in our School Seminar Series, on Thursday November 16th, is @microSCRUM's own Monica Cazzaniga from Cormac Gahan's lab who will talk about diet, the gut microbiome and host response to Listeria monocytogenes resistance.

MICROBIOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES
Ph.D. SPEAKER EVENT
Shona Uniacke-Lowe
University College Cork, Cork, Ireland
Supervisor: Paul Ross
Title: The antimicrobial potential of the deep-sea fish microbiome
Shona will present her work on the screening of bacterial isolates from the microbiomes of deep-sea fish for antimicrobials, with a particular focus on finding novel bacteriocins. The deep-sea is one of the largest ecological habitats on Earth, yet one of the least explored, and so has great potential as a source of novel antimicrobial metabolites.
Thursday 19th October

AL G30 - UCC
The next speaker in our School Seminar Series is Shona Uniacke-Lowe who will talk about biomining the deep-sea for new anti-microbials. Really looking forward to this!
