MICROBIOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES Ph.D. SPEAKER EVENT Shona Uniacke-Lowe University College Cork, Cork, Ireland Supervisor: Paul Ross Title: The antimicrobial potential of the deep-sea fish microbiome Shona will present her work on the screening of bacterial isolates from the microbiomes of deep-sea fish for antimicrobials, with a particular focus on finding novel bacteriocins. The deep-sea is one of the largest ecological habitats on Earth, yet one of the least explored, and so has great potential as a source of novel antimicrobial metabolites.
