I don't think about tropes too too much in my writing. For movies though, I've always hated the "true romantic love is the answer" trope. I am enjoying the short to the love of siblings or friends, but still, love isn't the answer to EVERYTHING!

I'm also not a fan of the sympathetic villain trope

Yea no I wouldn't be copying anything from any band. I would write music that I want to write and do my own thing. Like you said, it's just the trope I'm using.

Right! Yea I would be doing my own thing, choosing or making up a good and making a story about a modern band making a ritual out of their performances. I wouldn't be copying any existing songs or anything like that

But if I used an existing God like Anubis, Hades, Cthulhu, or if I make up my own God then it would be okay?

So for example, if there was a real life band who created a whole mythology so that their shows are rituals for a god. If I were to use that as a baseline for a story, but make up my own band and God and such, that's not plagiarism?

Yea that makes sense. So even if it's a major aspect of something that already exists, as long as I change enough of the surrounding details, it's ok?
