Volodymyr Zelenskyy honours disqualified skeleton racer with order of freedom
Vladyslav Heraskevych has been barred from the skeleton for his tribute to his fallen compatriots
Sad that Vladyslav Heraskevych lost his appeal. In my opinion the IOC is wrong. Wonderful to see that the amazing Zelensky has honoured him! Volodymyr Zelenskyy honours disqualified skeleton racer with order of freedom. #ukraine #ioc

Jean Michel Basquiat
Jean Michel Basquiat
Happy Birthday to Jean-Michel Basquiat, born on this day in 1960. I find myself mourning his death and imagining who he could have been if he hadnβt died in 1988. I believe his prolific art practice was him reckoning with his own mortality. (Portraits by James Van Der Zee, 1982)

A fully decorated Christmas tree stands in the centre of Sandwich Market Square at night, with illuminated buildings and shopfronts in the background. Rain falls on the cobbled brick ground, creating soft, colourful reflections
A walk through a very rainy Sandwich town last night to see the Christmas tree and lights, now Iβm getting into the spirit.

Garlic and autumn onions in a well-prepared organic bed, with sturdy green shoots emerging. Soil enriched with seaweed, compost and past green manure, showing early signs of strong growth.
Garlic and autumn onions are settling in well - Kingsland Wight, Germidour, Solent Wight, Carcassonne Wight and Senshyu onions. The bed had green manure, seaweed and well-rotted muck. Good to see the prep from earlier in the year doing its job. #KitchenGarden π§π§

Reselling tickets for profit to be outlawed in UK government crackdown
Touts, and ordinary consumers, will no longer be able to charge anything more than price at which they bought ticket
Now for some good news: the UK is finally moving to shut down ripoff ticket resellers. You should soon be able to buy seats directly from venues without touts grabbing everything first. #MusicSky

Two spider webs on separate allotment kitchen garden gate railings, each holding fine raindrops. Behind them sits a wheelbarrow beside a large heap of wood chips.
Briefly stopped by the allotment this morning and spotted a twin spider web strung with raindrops across the gate railings. At 8Β°C the chill made each bead stand out, a small reminder of how sharp the morning can be this time of year. #allotment πΈοΈπ·οΈΰΎΰ½²

Housing secretary tells Labour MPs to vote down planning bill amendment
Amendment restricts protection for animals to allow faster house building
Developers pushing ahead without basic wildlife checks is absurd. And when ministers spend more time with builders than conservation experts, the risk grows. We can build new homes, but not by wrecking the habitats that keep our countryside alive. #britishwildlife #uk

A greenhouse on an allotment, fully covered in insulating bubble wrap to retain warmth during the winter months. Inside, the space is prepped for protecting cuttings from frost and creating a sheltered environment for early seed sowing in the new growing season.
Greenhouse scrubbed, soil replaced with well-rotted manure, compost and topsoil. Bubble wrap added to insulate and keep cuttings warm. Early seeding starts in January. The 2026 kitchen garden is already in motion. #GreenHeart π

Mothers say AI chatbots encouraged their sons to kill themselves - BBC News
In her first UK interview Megan Garcia speaks to Laura Kuenssberg about the death of her teenage son.
The race to launch AI apps is moving faster than any real quality control. In the rush to be first, safety and oversight are being ignored and people are getting hurt. When a chatbot can push a child toward suicide, thatβs not innovation, itβs negligence.

My hands cupping a generous handful of dark, crumbly soil, rich with organic compost. The soil is a deep brown textured with fragments of decomposed leaves and plant matter. It rests in the palms and fingers, slightly damp, showing structure and life. The background hints at an outdoor kitchen garden allotment, slightly out of focus - raised beds, autumn light, and the suggestion of recent digging. The image captures the care and transformation of the earth through composting and cultivation.
A year ago this soil was spent. I've worked in compost made from seaweed, chicken and cow manure, oak leaves and bracken. Now itβs rich, organic and full of life. Itβs taken time, but itβs ready. Looking forward to planting into it next spring. #homestead ππΎπ¨βπΎπΏ

Newly built wooden fence and gate enclosing a kitchen garden allotment, made from salvaged wood and a repurposed goat pen gate. The ground is wet from recent rain, with a faint rainbow arcing across the sky behind.
Spent the weekend building a new fence and gate for the kitchen garden allotment - bit of help from friends, an old goat pen gate and salvaged wood. Soaked to the skin by the end, but a rainbow turned up as if to say - well done. Quite pleased with it. #KitchenGarden π©βπ³π β§βΛπ

View across the allotment at sunset, showing the kitchen garden in full late-season growth. Rich, dark soil and thriving beds are framed by fruit bushes and apple trees heavy with ripe fruit. The sky glows orange and blue beneath a low ceiling of cloud.
Allotmentβs come a long way. Soilβs had a full organic rethink - lush, fertile, thriving. Evening sunset put on a show: orange and blue under a ceiling of cloud. Hard to believe itβs getting darker already and summerβs drawing in. #timetogohome
