Mind you I do think that if David Sylvian had shaved his head and started wearing leather shorts then Nick Rhodes would have done it a week later.

13.10.2025 07:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lovely writing again. Even a snarky old git like me marvels at the effect music can have on people, even bands I donβt particularly like. The love of music and for Mrs LK always comes through these pieces.

Iβm not judging anyone else obv. People can pay whatever they fuck they want for their experiences. Itβs just me.
10.10.2025 09:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm sure it will be an amazing experience. Itβs a lot of money though. I hated myself for giving in and paying Β£70 to see Cave/Ellis

Struggling.

If weβre going to cancel rip off degree subjects letβs start with PPE at Oxbridge.

That was the idea for me, prep for the PTA film. Cheers for the podcast tip π

Really enjoying the Arsenal supporters complaining about Donnarummaβs time wasting. And Arteta whinging about someone feigning injury. The karma is beautiful.

Always a good day to listen to Jim
21.09.2025 11:25 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah I loved reading his stuff back then too. His recent stuff is fantastic. Definitely recommend the collection βit gets me home, this curving trackβ and the Fassbinder book is also great. I havenβt read the Satie one yet. Always look out for him being in LRB.

Nicely articulates how (even to those of us who worshipped at the Church of Bri) he can be simultaneously fabulous and irritating. For 10 years he created some of the most exciting music on the planet but then there is also the tedious generative stuff.
I really liked Denver Luna off the last album. One note throughout and a nice acappella at the end.

15.09.2025 19:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah definitely, one or two songs Iβm not so bothered about but there are a few that arenβt bad for a bunch of lads from Barnsley π
Wish the first album had been better produced though.
Yeah, mostly great, especially early on. Started to go shit after signing with Arista.

Have you seen the Futurama 2 line up? That was awesome. With the exception of a certain character on the Sunday. We played on the Saturday (down as Y? on the bill).
15.09.2025 14:35 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0I do remember it. The most vivid memory was that it was an ice rink and I think they had just laid some covering over the ice so it was really wet and absolutely fucking freezing. Not exactly the hellscape of Leeds Queens Hall (Futurama 2) but not far off π

Well as preparation for One Battle After Another I started to read Pynchonβs Vineland but Iβm really bogged down in the hipster vernacular.
Taking a break with the help of Yoko Ogawa after loving The Memory Police.
Hi Richard
Oh boy what a nightmare. Here goesβ¦
1 Miles Davis - in a silent way
2 The Velvet Underground and Nico - ST
3 John Coltrane - A love Supreme
4 Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
5 Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

You might have seen this but if not thereβs a great video of the making of the soundtrack.

I think the clash of all the different ideas was what made them unique and great. Like you say, as some of the interesting bands members left and it seemed to focus more and more on Tom, they became less interesting. Still capable of good stuff but not as wild.
12.09.2025 17:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Really loved dEUS but this was the start of me losing interest. Still a few great songs on here though and Sun Ra is absolutely fantastic.
