Don't you think today would be a great day to ban members of Congress and their families from trading stocks?
I do.

Excited for this upcoming book publication by the great @charlespiller.bsky.social, about fraud in Alzheimer's research.
I was fortunate to read the preprint, and it is SOOOO good!
There will be several events in Washington DC and San Francisco, where Charles will introduce his book.

low-key one of the most insidious dumb guy beliefs of the last few decades to gain widespread purchase has been this notion that demonstrating pro-social behavior in the hope that others would notice and mirror it, one of the fucking building blocks of any kind of society, is somehow βfakeβ.

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

Two baby alligators hiding in the roots of a tree. The top one is facing left, the bottom one is facing right.
A baby alligator swimming in the lake, facing right. The tail of another baby alligator is visible above the head of the first.
A large adult alligator in the lake. Only her face is visible above the water as she approaches the photographer.
Fun fact: if you accidentally fall down an embankment next to a nest of baby alligators, they will make adorable noises to summon their mom. A second fun fact: the mom will be SO much faster than you anticipate, and you will have to sprint back up the embankment. Don't ask me how I know this.
