Jeffrey Wright: American films and other cultural output do enhance national security. The stories we tell and the music we make bring the world closer to us, like nothing else. Soft power. Post-WWil, through ill-conceived wars, the US military, unfortunately, has tended to have the opposite effect. So rather than whipping out his tariffs again, which will do nothing to reduce production costs at home, this dumb mf could, for example, suggest that the federal government match state-level tax credits to compete with foreign jurisdictions and incentivize film production/job sustainability in the US. But no, he'd rather boost the defense budget to 1 trillion(!!) $$$, as his regime just proposed, decimate funding for the arts and whine like a stuck pig, squealing out indecipherable nonsense like this, a stupid mf. Fucking idiot never met a problem he couldn't make worse.
Signed, an actor who just landed in London to go to work

I get that people are upset about Trump being Trump and going after movies, but nothing we say here is going to do anything. Want to help? Put money into that ecosystem. Go see a foreign film in a theater this week, get them charting on streaming services, buy discs.
