I decided yesterday that instead of trekking back from DC after my visit this afternoon, I’d stay in the city and eat my comfort food I can’t get in the burbs and take a long bath in a proper big tub. I’m so glad I did this. #selfcare

In August, I moved across the country to be a folklorist. Sometimes I think it was a huge mistake. I really don’t know what I’m doing, my apartment is a mess, and I’ve been dealing with some terrible health problems from day one. But this week things started getting better. I might make it.

Obviously even one life lost is unacceptable and with the recent layoffs at certain government agencies, there are already calls for the new administration to take accountability (lol).

I live not far from Dulles,
so I’m often looking at the flight radar to see what planes are making all that noise or if the helicopter that flew by my window is even on there. I’m so sick about the plane crash but, frankly, it feels like a miracle it’s such a rare occurrence around here.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

There must be immediate hearings on how the federal government/Department of Defense allowed this to happen and if removal of safety protocols and recent personnel changes led to this incident.
