It feels like an extra awful layer on top of an already very awful event to have the BBC put this information up about the suspect's race & nationality. Seems to be a pleading unsubtle subtext of "please don't riot! It's a white guy! Let the police deal with him!"

Hard to see how this logic doesn't also apply to people born in the UK who weren't born British, weren't subsequently registered in childhood through no fault of their own, and then fall into the deportation process
