I've learned so much since I've been teaching, it amazes me sometimes. ☺️

I'm sitting with 5# of okra right now. 😬 I'm going to pickle some of it, the rest I'll just chop and freeze for gumbos and stews for the next year.

I'm always concerned when I tell students my mental models for things. I try to preface it with "this isn't fully correct, but it's how I think about it", but I didn't think that particular point really lands with the students. 😬

The world is spinning out of control faster and faster, I'm surrounded by trauma I can't fix, and I'm trying to figure out how to be a functioning and empathetic partner, parent, teacher, friend, and human... I'mma go sit in my garden in the morning and breath. Until then... 🍸 and 📺.

With the husband, just supervised an 8 year old doing homework and writing an "essay"while teaching the 12 year old to make her favorite dinner. Two hours later, we haven't eaten yet and I'm exhausted, and the big one still needs to be picked up from evening band practice. 😭

Nice! It's completely my intention to have the kids pick a day of the week and plan/make dinner, including adding ingredients to the shopping order list, etc, so they are not completely useless when it comes to feeding themselves when they move out.
