Before you feel like New Zealand isn't being targeted by the homicidal US culture wars, here's our very own Bob McCroskrie, flown to Washington DC to speak at the Heritage Project 2025 event last year.

The previous contract should never have been cancelled and all New Zealanders are going to pay for the current indecision. Later, smaller ferries, likely run by a private company. Higher costs of freight - which means higher shop prices. A poorer service. Are we back on track yet?

I withdraw my statement. Thanks Mark.

Thanks Mark. You may be right. In my experience with Ministers, draft reports were available before being publicly released.

Mark, you know that Govts never get a report on the day it is released. He has had ample opportunity to reading and understand it. It may contain too many big words for him to understand??

If it weren't for the Treaty where would you be?
Your forebears would have stayed at home or been served up for tea
For Māori didn't have to let them in but did agree
To keep their land and rights and that's the Treaty.

I was a volunteer at the hikoi, at Waitangi Park. Not sure if it's been reported on any media but there was so much aroha - Muslims For Te Tiriti gave us hundreds of curry meals, and as I was leaving, the Cambodian community gave us over 1000 meals. Aroha before politics. THAT was the hikoi!

I really don't need anyone to cry me a river but sometimes just getting out of bed and living through the day as a Māori woman in a settler colony requires just about more courage than I can gather RN. Toitū te Tiriti, you absolute fuckers!

I don't have to be a historian to know that te tiriti wasn't Māori leaders signing the treaty with the intention of me, a white South African, moving over and having equal rights. Be real. It was an agreement between them and the crown. Be real, and stop trying to steal more shit. #nzpol

I can’t do anything about the US but I can try and thwart the entrenchment of far right ideology within Aotearoa, so that is what I shall do. Countering the spread of disinformation is key to this.

Do you know what? 96% of the world’s population is not American, we need to start acting like it.

We killed a whole flu unintentionally just by masking.

Imagine what we could do if we tried.

Covid does not _need_ to circulate. We don’t really have reservoirs of it. It’s not inevitable. Even now.

Crazy that Three Waters was such a vote loser for Labour, and a $20 tax cut was a winner for National.

Next time Labour should campaign on 'let central government take care of national water infrastructure – and save you thousands* on rates.'

This confirms that the NZ Herald is not where we will find the news that is important for our nation. Let's leave them behind.

There’s a rule of thumb that the best vaccine is the one you can get!

You’ll want it 2+ weeks before you travel so that your immune system has time to work on it.

The 60-Year-Old Scientific Screwup That Helped Covid Kill All pandemic long, scientists brawled over how the virus spreads. Droplets! No, aerosols! At the heart of the fight was a teensy error with huge consequences.

What a fascinating read https://www.wired.com/story/the-teeny-tiny-scientific-screwup-that-helped-covid-kill/

Sigh. Now we know we need to send a summary of this wonderful story to every source that has it wrong. Public health rocks!

It suggests that we should have some community debate about our expectations of universities. I support our expert academics being encouraged to engage in discussions about controversial issues in NZ. I understand scientific papers are important but an informed and engaged community has great value.

Yes. I have stayed in many of these budget hotels over the years while working. Grim, but it does remind us that home is pretty good.

It never made sense that WHO took the droplet spread line, but I guess this beautiful writing explains it. Many people are likely to have died because of this.
