What a weekend. My debut novel publishes on Monday. Off to watch the red roses in the Rugby World Cup 🏉 final later, and spent all night at A&E with a mother sporting a fractured wrist! I will be running on fumes by Monday night.

Thought the rapture was just for laughs? Me too. Until I discovered this morning that a key term in my new novel (left behinds) has special meaning in the world of the rapture, and now I'm wondering if I wrote an allegory by mistake.

Every time I hold a copy of my book in my hands, I get a buzz. I can't imagine that ever stopping.

I would love to be included, although technically, as my urban fantasy (The Terminus Of All Things) doesn't publish until Monday, it would all be on a throne of lies for the next 4 days and 10 hours.

Anyone got any experience in selling books online through your own website, versus using TikTok shop? Are they complementary? Start with one and expand into the other? Hit me up with your tips.

I hadn't realised until reading this that the 'sweet little urban fantasy' that I'm writing is actually body horror. I have someone's rib cage inverting as their sternum peels back...not so sweet. Have fun with it!

+1 on this. The Scar is a better read all round.

All writing advice is an author going, “Hey, this worked for me, so I’m sharing it in case it works for you.” That’s cool. That could be useful to someone. On the other hand, advice presented as a “rule” or as something you “must” do is stuff I think you can ignore.

With the exception of taking coffee into the shower (dilution risk - extreme), this is pretty much spot on. Existential dread can appear at any time of day though.

This is it. It's the day. The day it happens. I knew it would come. It's inevitable.

That's right. It's the day we consider turning on the heating for the first time this autumn.

My jaw hit the floor when I read this over coffee this morning. I don't listen to Today, so I just hear about Robinson's bias via social media, and imagined the reports were probably a bit hysterical. Turns out they must be right, if this article is anything to go by.
