'Dieselgate': Five carmakers go on trial over emissions cheat claims The trial is the latest chapter of what has become known as the "dieselgate" scandal.

Yesterday's #Dieselgate trial opened with this from Thomas de la Mare KC:

"Each player in the industry basically took a conscious decision that customer convenience, which helped the industry sell more cars, was more important" than preventing #AirPollution.

It is time the car manufacturers paid.

Dieselgate: the sequel — Mums for Lungs Car manufacturers must be held to account - our new analysis shows a shocking number of the most polluting diesel cars are still on UK roads, 10 years after Dieselgate. 

There are still millions of #Diesel cars on the UK’s roads emitting suspiciously high levels of #AirPollution.

The US government took action for the damage caused by the original Dieselgate scandal.

Now we need our government to deal with the UK legacy: car manufacturers must be held to account.

Nine years of Dieselgate - from the High Court to recalls and the risk to people’s health Leigh Day partner Fiona Huddleston and paralegal Berk Soyer look at the potential implications of Dieselgate for human health, the environment and vehicle recalls.

Between 2009 & 2024 these Euro 5 & pre-RDE Euro 6 cars, likely linked to defeat devices, cost the EU & UK an eye-watering €760 billion, and caused widespread damage to #AirQuality & public #Health.

It’s an absolute scandal, even more so because #Dieselgate is alive and well in the UK right now.

Making sense of global Air Quality Indexes Pretty much every country has an Air Quality Index by one name or another – Air Pollution Index,  Pollution Standard Index and so on – but frustratingly there is no consistency from one to another.…

The differences between #AirQuality Indexes (AQI) across the world are fascinating & frustrating. AQI bandings can be very misleading. We need DEFRA to adjust their AQI so that people get the true picture of what they're breathing.

Manchester has the highest NO2 #AirPollution in the country. Hospital admissions for under 3s have risen by a third. As @lizgdfy.bsky.social says:
