X1/9 always looked pretty cool though
12.08.2025 12:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I thought that was the day Buddy Holly's plane crashed, or so Brummie comedian and Crackerjack host Don MacLean claimed
12.08.2025 09:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very much enjoyed the reference, and had "Home Taping is killing music" ready as my reply π
12.08.2025 08:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Am waiting for a monkey to be hanged because 'concerned local residents' thought it was an illegal asylum seeker
12.08.2025 08:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I remembered him from Picture Box (when I was 10/11) but completely forgot he was in Brookie (when I was in my 20s). Not sure what that says about my memory!
11.08.2025 11:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sounds like he may not have been acting in his role as "Chief" in Linda! @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social
11.08.2025 11:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you havenβt read it, this piece by @jemima.bsky.social about the βnew rightβ is slightly scary but mostly very very funny

Where on earth did he think they had sailed from? The nearest land is the northern part of the Netherlands, around a hundred miles away across the North Sea. It's also a similar distance from Calais.
08.08.2025 13:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looking forward to watching this and hoping for the story of how it was found. But surely I'm not the only person who gets "I was not looking for Linda, Linda found me" stuck in their head whenever you post this?
08.08.2025 12:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I must admit I like oldies (The Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn is my all-time favourite) - funnily enough I have a list, not necessarily in order! letterboxd.com/simonj63/lis...
07.08.2025 10:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I've only seen the original (which I refuse to call "A New Hope") and The Empire Strikes Back, both of which were good when I was 14 or 15, but are a bit meh now. Went to see the one with Jar Jar Binks (can't remember what it's called) which was terrible and have never seen any of the others
07.08.2025 10:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0All good thanks! Enjoying the latest pod (about 2/3 through so far) but thought you were a bit ambivalent about Star Wars, you should have said what you really think!
07.08.2025 10:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I thought you'd be working your way through the 'Allo Allo boxset π
Sorry to hear you're still not too good, hope things get better shortly
I always enjoy a good debate around the status of a foodstuff, so glad to see the #FT is doing proper investigative journalism on this issue on.ft.com/45mIdcT

These two (Pamela Franklin and Martin Stephens) win, from The Innocents (1961)

1. Social class not a protected characteristic so not legally discriminatory
2. Even if it were, is permitted under 'positive action' rules
3. Needs clear definition of social class to work well

31.07.2025 19:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Although the one o'clock newsreader did inadvertently amuse me - after coverage of the cortege going through Birmingham, she added "Ozzy Osborne, who of course died last week..." to which my reaction was "Thank goodness for that, I'm sure that not even Ozzy would want to be buried alive"
