I thought that was the day Buddy Holly's plane crashed, or so Brummie comedian and Crackerjack host Don MacLean claimed

I remembered him from Picture Box (when I was 10/11) but completely forgot he was in Brookie (when I was in my 20s). Not sure what that says about my memory!

Sunday at the garden party for Curtis Yarvin and the new, new right What you learn at a gathering of neoreactionaries, Very Online rightwingers and the formerly cancelled

If you haven’t read it, this piece by @jemima.bsky.social about the β€˜new right’ is slightly scary but mostly very very funny

Looking forward to watching this and hoping for the story of how it was found. But surely I'm not the only person who gets "I was not looking for Linda, Linda found me" stuck in their head whenever you post this?

My top20 favourite movies I’m forever describing films as β€˜being in my top 20’ so thought I’d better actually list them (though it may change slightly over time as I watch new films or remember older ones - as may the order)

I must admit I like oldies (The Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn is my all-time favourite) - funnily enough I have a list, not necessarily in order! letterboxd.com/simonj63/lis...

I've only seen the original (which I refuse to call "A New Hope") and The Empire Strikes Back, both of which were good when I was 14 or 15, but are a bit meh now. Went to see the one with Jar Jar Binks (can't remember what it's called) which was terrible and have never seen any of the others

Civil service interns must all be working class, government says Internships will only go to students from poorer families in a push to make Whitehall more working class.

Loving πŸ™„ some of the hot takes on this - like Twitter c2017!
1. Social class not a protected characteristic so not legally discriminatory
2. Even if it were, is permitted under 'positive action' rules
3. Needs clear definition of social class to work well

Although the one o'clock newsreader did inadvertently amuse me - after coverage of the cortege going through Birmingham, she added "Ozzy Osborne, who of course died last week..." to which my reaction was "Thank goodness for that, I'm sure that not even Ozzy would want to be buried alive"

Nigel Farage urges minister to apologise for Jimmy Savile online safety claim Minister Peter Kyle claims that by opposing online safety laws the Reform UK leader is siding with sex offenders.
