Another great song by Jesse.

As great as Yamamoto has been, I was still wondering if he'd run out of gas. Took guts to go to him in the 9th with runners on.

This has been frustrating for the community, but at least it's a fresh start.
Doesn't help that the owners involved in the development rights sold the team four years ago & Fenway Sports Group ignores the 'Burgh. Local politicos should have applied more pressure.

I love it. Jags has endured so long that I gave up my grudges against him for the way his Pens career ended *and* the fake out when we thought he was coming back.
Just a totally unique dude and physical freak.
Now, just waive the HOF waiting period and induct him.

I binged this podcast. It's really well-done and is a bit different from the standard sports-story series, especially from ESPN.
The series did an excellent job of telling the full life of a man, Martin Manley, you've almost certainly never known about.

I'm enjoying the "Question Everything" podcast by @brihreed.bsky.social. This episode - the first of two about the raid on the Marion County Record in Kansas - is enlightening and enraging. Big credit to editor-publisher Eric Meyer for fighting back.

Doing the Penguins 6.6K Run & Family Walk w/ my boys. (One is excited after enjoying the Kids Marathon last spring, but he's bummed about waking early on Sunday!)
I used to do the Beard-A-Thon fundraiser, but, uh, we don't see the playoffs in this parts anymore. mariolemieux.org/registration...

28.09.2025 00:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A five-star review of "Prescription for Pain" from September 26, 2025 that reads: A Masterclass in Investigative Journalism and Empathy Philip Eilβs Prescription for Pain is a searing, meticulously researched deep dive into one of the most disturbing chapters of the opioid epidemic. With the precision of a surgeon and the heart of a poet, Eil unpacks the rise and ruin of Dr. Paul Volkmanβa once-promising pediatrician turned βPill Mill Killerββwhose unchecked greed and delusions of grandeur devastated rural Ohio A. What sets this book apart isnβt just the gripping narrative or the staggering scope of Eilβs decade-long reporting odyssey. Itβs the ethical rigor. Eil refuses to flatten Volkman into a caricature of evil, instead allowing readers to witness the contradictions and complexities that fueled his descent. The result is a portrait thatβs damning, yesβbut also deeply human B. Eilβs writing is crisp, immersive, and unflinching. He centers the victims with care, devoting space to their stories and honoring their lives beyond the headlines. The afterword, a tribute to the 13 people who died under Volkmanβs care, is a gut punch of quiet reverence A. If you appreciated Dopesick, Empire of Pain, or Dreamland, this belongs on your shelf. Itβs not just true crimeβitβs truth with consequences. A profound achievement.
The cover of Philip Eil's 2024 book, Prescription for Pain: How a Once-Promising Doctor Became the "Pill Mill Killer."

Thanks for doing what you can to care for the little one - especially after-hours! It's been years, but my wife has had luck with the Humane Animal Rescue League in the past. We used to donate, but I don't think we've gotten a solicitation in a while and they slipped our minds.
Good luck!
For your sake, I'll root for it and keep my fingers crossed that it works out!

Why weren't the bosses initially interested?
I sometimes feel guilty about taking out too many books and not taking/making enough time to read them.
But I'm all about community support for libraries - we have a great system in Allegheny County - and I'm happy to do whatever helps keep libraries funded for everybody to use.
