If there's a "victim", that prompts the question of "who did this and how do we stop them?" If there's a "survivor", it's just "I'm sorry that happened to you". While I understand the good intent behind it, I feel like "survivor" language allows perpetrators of abuse to escape accountability.

Hot take: I HATE the term "survivor" being applied to people who have been abused. "Survivor" just sounds like something bad happened to someone in the past, like you could be a "survivor" of a natural disaster. But "victim" directly implies a "perpetrator" that victimized someone.
