That's it, everybody switch to UTC, cancel all timezones. I thought the US timezones were deranged.

and a negative farm income…

As a city slicker, intermediate is a confusing category. I'm also surprised the commercial farms aren't like an order of magnitude larger than residential by income.

USDA data table showing "residence farms" (the official USDA designation for "small family farms" at this time) with a median net worth of $1.24M and $116K/year net income. (Net income = AFTER farm debts & expenses)

(ps. Here's the data if you don't believe me.

The median small family farmer in the US is a millionaire with a 6-figure income. Yes, after you take out farm debts & expenses.)

To some degree, bluesky has specifically selected for the parts of twitter which will do exactly this (or at least, join someone else's effort to).

Tetration - Wikipedia

7. Similarly, `^` should be for exponentiation, UNLESS you extend the syntax and use `***` for tetration (iterated exponentiation), `****` for pentation, and so on:

There are some languages that let you do this. In Julia this has been a source of bugs tbh

yeah I think far too many people are still judging video games as if they were books or movies with a controller when it comes to these lists of "good" video games. games like factorio delivering their message just thru the gameplay it makes you do is what I think of more than what the text says.

magnificent: it turns out there is no productivity crisis, it's just that the tech sector is wildly unproductive and is dragging everything else down with it.

fucking hate this timeline. It does seem that subsets of people at openAI keep figuring it out after way too long and jump ship to make e.g. Anthropic. it was a shame they didn't try to oust Altman instead, he was too embedded when they tried like 2 years ago

Chotiner: where is the center of danger?

Me: it is of a particular size and shape, and below us

Chotiner: is anything valued here?

Me: no but we’ll have signs

Chotiner: what kind of signs?

Me: well we’re still working on that

Chotiner: and you consider yourself a powerful culture?

Me: wait
