09.12.2025 17:02 โ ๐ 34 ๐ 11 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1having a succinct customizable guide that you can ask literally any question on earth and learn how to do any skill when needed is good, actually
09.12.2025 17:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0the first tutorial I ever did when learning blender was a gingerbread man nearly 20 years ago. this was, believe it or not, the coolest thing in rendered graphics at the time
now: Meshy text-to-3D auto model and texture generation
okay, the new blender 5.0 thing where you can download addons by dragging them from the browser into blender and it just auto-installs is _very slick_
09.12.2025 14:50 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There are going to be a lot of advantages that go to people who git gud at AI and what people need to realize is that that is less like learning how to computer and more like learning how to work with animals.
09.12.2025 13:39 โ ๐ 106 ๐ 10 ๐ฌ 6 ๐ 0it is also sort of funny that the best source of information we have for cross compatibility of parts is ebay listings that are incentivized to try to cram as many SEO words / brand names into their listing as possible
very often there's no single site that just says "this works for X, Y, Z..."
not sure if there's a word for this, but I think there's something underappreciated about having a huge latent space to search, and then a specific verification search done second
like, I couldn't come up with the two linked SKUs myself, but if it got me started I can then string search verify them
oh man, I needed to replace a very specific subassembly part on my car and they were sold out everywhere, impossible to find, until claude recognized the SKU resembled a different brand version of the same part (common between cars)
I genuinely wouldn't have found that jump via my own googling
"do you think you have the discipline to eat chicken noodle soup when you're sick?"
wut
we see this sometimes in other subculture genres: there's a difference between people who like cars and people who like driving, and there are different types of racing games for each
Reciever is a game about guns in a way that most FPS games aren't, etc
Skate Story is lovely
ironically, despite all the skateboarding themed games, there aren't really any that capture the joy and freedom of skating itself? just pushing and cruising through the night
This is model trains

08.12.2025 21:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0yeeeeeah... banks are actually pretty good at this? it actively costs them tons of money per infraction, so they do take it very seriously
that's why fraudsters switched to itunes giftcards decades ago, and crypto and such equivalents now - they already operate entirely outside of banking

THIS IS NOT A DRILL
is anyone simply livestreaming and holding up a laptop screen with the realtime chat (proof of live) + physically touching the robot (proof of tangibility)?
seems like we have lots of ways to prove something isn't post-rendered CGI if we wanted to
had a very long troubleshooting session with GPT 5.1, did a bunch of things, none of them worked, it basically gave up
copy-pasted the whole thread into opus and it a) actually finally solved the problem and b) was way more sassy and human about it
it is sort of funny seeing the youths of today develop a hazy nostalgia for the Y2K the same way we did for the 80's and 90's
neither era - or any era - were some golden peaceful utopia, it was just nice because we were oblivious children
normal computer IT is mostly just turning it off and on again
network IT is turning things off veeeeerryyyy sloooowwwly: unplug, then wait five minutes, turn it on, wait five minutes, turn on the other bit, wait five minutes...
Made a pen plotter for under $20 and some 3d printed parts. It serves up a whole web server, just connect, draw, and plot. No drivers or installs for the user, just open a browser. Full writeup here hackaday.io/project/2045... #cnc #3dprinting #esp32 #penplotter #stem

if you had a lemonade stand and suddenly coca cola wants to buy your lemonade for $10 per cup and the line up of people want to still pay $2 per cup, like, of course you want to sell it for more. sorry folks!
