GODS, it's been so long since I had time to come back to any of my #WIP. Didn't get a ton done tonight, but the reflection I did turned out SO much better than expected. Now, in order to match up, I have even more work to do inside the lamp than anticipated! 😮‍💨

The pose, the hair, the sweater, the chair! All so wonderfully done! Absolutely beautiful sketch 😍

Also gotta say, I've really been enjoying writing the alt text for these works of art. Digs up a little part of me from my art history days, though the alts could use refining.

Little sad I couldn't bring myself to do Bosch's. It was a downer of a night, and I really just didn't know how to start.

Three people frantically work to drag nets up onto land on the lower right. Waves crash against the rock shore on both sides of the painting. In the midground, to the left, a lighthouse blazes with a smokey fire at the top. In the center of the piece, just above the ship, a full moon peaks through the heavy dark cloud cover, providing the only real illumination in the painting. The whole thing is moody AF and I love it.

Would have killed to be able to afford this piece (or Shackled) when I saw it. I couldn't stop looking at them, and they've been on my mind for a while now. Seriously considered taking out a new credit card just to get it, but would have been a really bad move considering my finances 😅😭

A nude male figure on his knees, his lower have swaddled in black fabric-like tendrils that flare out and up behind him, swirling across the bottom-left diagonal half of the painting. Near the right side, a straight line of neon-rainbow liquid lights pours down from above, past the figure's head of short brown hair and through his hands, which are rested on the ground, palms up, either in a gesture of relief or defeat. The neon runs in rivulets along the ground and off the painting. The background (including ground plane) is all muted warm taupes and cooler light greys.

And here I was thinking someone made a delightful beetle-shaped pastry!

Acrylic painting. Light takes form of burning patterns and burn through the beings born from the river. What’s left is scattered against fragments of phantoms in the shapes of bird-like heralds. I did this painting after some hard times around 2009.

I LOVE that the people and the bike have a similar, more dilute color palette and then the sword-skeleton is like a neon salmon! I definitely think it makes this a lot more impactful than if the colors were more varied or more saturated across the board.

"Four is a powerful number to Hawaiians. Four times four is even more powerful, hence the traditional 16 panels of the creation story. Each panel contains aspects of the sea, land and sky, and depicts the progressive stages of the moon. Each white triangle symbolizes a generation with the stacked line of triangles indicating the many generations, or one's ancestral heritage. Each black dot on top of two white strips represents one's piko or baval and the coral polyp, which is the first evidence of life. Through the generations/panels, fish, plants and birds begin to appear; turtles move between sea and land; larger sea and land animals emerge; man appears and his ties to the land; flora and fauna is symbolized by the fetus' ties (umbilical) to kako, breadfruit and other elements important in the lives of the Hawaiian people."
