Good fucking Christ, AAA has gone downhill. My mother's been on the phone with them for half an hour and they've only just now gotten on the line with an actual human being. This is completely inexcusable 'customer' "service".

Maybe it's just because I hang out in horror circles, but are there legitimately people who haven't heard of Lovecraft's stories? The rejection was in part because 'there's no backstory'.

On the one hand: got a personal rejection.

On the other: feedback was extremely disheartening to the point where I'm retiring the story. FML.

"YA as an insult" is insane. Some of the best books I've ever read are YA, and pigeonholing someone into that category because they don't like the writing is a dick move. Don't listen to that person.

Don't give up. My philosophy for writing lately has become 'move fast and break things'. Just get it done (move fast) even if it isn't perfect (break things) and worry about polishing it later. First drafts are never true reflections of the final product.

Just threw out 27k words. Concept wasn't working.

Scrivener legitimately changed the way I write. While I am a bit annoyed by the fact that its dictionary is so incomplete at times, and the fact that you can't 'select all' for compiling a document, these are minor quibbles for as good as a $60 program is.
