Hand thrown and carved bowl, in speckled clay, carved with fern-like leaves. Glaze is brown and blue-green and somewhat shiny. The bowl is sitting on a wood table in front of a golden yellow background (which is a knitted blanket) with a Havanese dog behind and to the left of the table and bowl.

Recent bowl, with a furry photobomber.

“Well maybe I will, you crazy ass bitch” has become a bit of a humorous family catch phrase after hearing some neighbors screaming at each other in the street almost a decade ago. Usually happened on holidays. I think yelling at each other in the street was a tradition. Good times.

First completed piece in the new studio with the new kiln. My kiln is so small these had to be fired separately….only bc I couldn’t fit kiln posts on the shelf with either piece. Glaze flaws, so it will remain with me.

….and 25 days later, I have completed a planter set. Waiting for it to finish drying to put it through the first bisque firing in the kiln.

Blooming lilac

Back in my studio and the lilacs are blooming. It smells amazing outside and I can still throw pots after a 7 month break. Yay!

And we’ve just finished buying/selling/moving from FL to NY, with our family split up in different places for many months. Closed on the new house in September, sold the old one in February. It’s been 🤯. Still recovering.

Frankly half the reason we just adopted two cats is bc we need to spread the emotional support around a bit more. I’ve been half joking for months that Mochi, my 14lb Havanese dog, is carrying all the weight of our family’s emotional support. But yeah, a lot of it was just me.

And clearly the competition in question *did* have separate gender classes, so saying fencing is mixed gender obviously isn’t true all the time, and this shouldn’t have been a Thing regardless.

My oldest son did fencing as a child and the competitions he was in didn’t separate children by gender- but there were not really enough girls to have separate competitions. I can’t remember about the adults- I had a baby and toddler and we usually cut out after my son’s matches. Around 2005?

Been off meds since 2019, not certain how long that will last now. The people around me are struggling and managing that energy around me is a lot as I’ve historically been the source of coregulation for them. I need to move more and take more outdoor time- but I’m often stuck in freeze mode.

If you see this, quote post your green art. No A/I, no N/F/T

Haven’t found this one since the move so I don’t have a better photo. Hand carved, thrown porcelain bottle.

So, they have a maintenance window every night at 1:15am for 3 hours. Seems like a lot of down time….speaking as someone whose partner has worked during maintenance windows their whole career. Often for companies that try to keep services 24/7. It’s usually just Sunday morning.

A week ago I was assaulted by this fine gentleman, right down the street from the DMV. Today, he might join our family. Along with his sister.

So, haven’t posted here in a bit- slipped back into the fb habit and I’m not loving it.

Economic blackout day- What are y’all up to today?

I made my calls to my representatives, practiced French, plan to do some permaculture studying later and move more boxes out of the living room. And you?

Could have just been his shitty insurance and not having a prescription from his doctor…I hope it all goes smoothly for you. I had actually thought the ACA required coverage for all vaccines on the standard schedule, so perhaps they made a mistake.

Measles vaccines are unfortunately expensive and sometimes not covered by insurance if you try to get one at the pharmacy (they told my son $300), though they should be accessible through local health departments free. How accessible one’s local health department is may vary.

One of the easiest ways to avoid following these types of accounts is to subscribe to the content scrapers list. I recommend everyone follow. These kind of accounts should get no air.

There’s a data scientist that’s been saying this as well. The number of bullet ballots (ballots with only a vote for President) for the gross guy was very highly unusual, particularly in PA, but also other swing states. It should have been investigated.

Frankly most in the US barely have the privilege of domestic travel. I’ve been out of the US exactly once….thanks to a college scholarship program. To Europe. My son’s fiancé is Canadian and he’s traveled there a few times. But also, most of the US is nowhere near a border to cross. Too big.

Many of us born here find it both astounding and dismaying, and have our whole lives. I often think about how we could essentially brainwash the US public into actual knowledge of how the government works. Art would likely be a huge part of it- songs, images, film/tv.

This is supposed to be my studio. I think it housed goats previously, judging by the smell. It needs….a lot.

I haven’t made anything from clay since moving. So today I applied to join a studio where I can get work fired.

Time to get back to it, when the old house closes next week.
