Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

I am shocked & outraged.

No, fake news about immigration is tearing the country apart.
If Mahmood spent more time getting accurate stats into the news as she does showing how tough she is, there might be less of a problem.

Who is Lee Harris?
He is playing with fire & the outcomes of that are notoriously unreliable.

If you love Jane Austen, you’ll hugely enjoy Rachel Parris’s new novel Introducing Mr Collins β€” few people know Austen, or comedy, better than Rachel (a founding member of the hilarious Austentatious improv troupe)

Via No 10 today (obviously overshadowed by the asylum announcement): "Schools across England will save millions on energy bills as Great British Energy installs solar panels on over 250 sites, cutting costs and reinvesting into education while powering classrooms with clean, homegrown energy."

Mistake no 1.
There is no single immigration problem.
In fact there are many aspects to the question of immigration and not all are problems.
Mistake no 2
Where the problems exist you are dooming yourself to disaster if you think there is a one answer fits all solution.
Each one is different.

First basic mistake:
It's not one problem.
It's several and they have different solutions.

The word 'reform' has taken on a whole new ugly meaning of late.

According to Wikipedia, 'Ideologically, Mahmood identifies as a social conservative & as belonging to the Blue Labour faction of the Labour Party.'
IOW she is a ideologically a Tory.
Labour is not blue or even mildly purple.
Labour is Red.
We care for the vulnerable & the weak.
We welcome refugees.

You have the luck to live in Scotland. We moved south for work many years ago & I am too old now to move back.

17.11.2025 11:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Sadly, this is not that time. The forces of the right are on the march - look at the US, Italy & Hungary. That is what we must focus on.

17.11.2025 10:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No, it is not yet the right, but it must show that it will not stand for policies like Mahmood's.
It's time for the left to flex its muscles - and by the left I do not mean egocentric twats like Corbyn & Sultana. I mean the solid principled core of the party.

17.11.2025 10:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

England is not yet in the same state as Scotland. I am not prepared to vote for Greens/LDs if it risks letting Farage in.

17.11.2025 10:50 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

True
Plus the total mess he is making of organising No10 so that Labour's programme is presented & carried out efficiently gives more clues to his general incompetence.
He seems to think No10 houses a cabal to which few are invited. He plots & schemes in his fiefdom while Farage's hyenas take over .

Graph showing decline since 2005

Graph showing decline since 2005

There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

Mahmood doesn't belong in the Labour Party.
If Starmer thinks outFaraging Farage is a good idea he is wrong.
For a start her measures won't work.
But more importantly she is likely to split the Labour Party.
Is that what he wants?
Safe routes followed by swift processing is the answer to the problem

Oh and here’s Gross Stupid Richard Tice not knowing a thing about his local area.

Boston Pilgrim Hospital’s heating system is at the end of life. So getting something new, efficient and not fossil fuel is sensible.

Reform UK want you to believe it’s just money being splashed out.

No Ms Truss, you're the epitome of what's gone wrong with this country.
You're the product of a system which neglected learning in favour of training.
You jumped through the hoops you got your degree.
You have no idea how a real economy works.
If it wasn't in your illustrated primer you're lost.

Look, for fuck’s sake, humans have been migrating continuously for our entire existence.

Every single human in the world is the product of migration.

It’s what humans do. There is nothing *more* human.

That’s never going to change.

Just grow up, get the fuck over it and plan accordingly.

Absolutely.
For all the 'hard men' like McSweeney it seems remarkably disorganised.
I would have thought having run the CPS, Starmer would have managed better.
Do people know what their jobs are'
eg Who is in charge of the programme?
Who is running coms & why have they let Farage seize the agenda?

Mahmood, out control, out of her depth, failing around, mistaking cruelty for strength, is unable to see the potential of people, prepared to risk everything, choosing this country.
These aren't idle scroungers.
Layabouts stay put, disregarding moral values.
Bring back Rayner or promote Phillips.

16.11.2025 18:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And should this country be deemed safe with such blinkered, narrow minded fools in charge, morons who think being cruel is a sign of strength.
A strong govt would see the potential in people, prepared to risk everything, wanting to live & work in the UK.
Mahmoud can't see beyond the end of her nose.

Every time I hear a politician say that an issue is β€œdividing” this country they always then come down on the side of the right wing view of it. Just once I’d love to hear someone say β€œthis issue is divisive, which is why I’m making the argument that kindness and compassion is important”

16.11.2025 09:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1475    πŸ” 424    πŸ’¬ 41    πŸ“Œ 17

My MP is not Labour.
No longer Tory, thank God. Tactical voting does work.
Voting is so tribal round here that there was no hope of Labour ever getting in.
The farmers round here would vote for Winnie the Pooh rather than vote Labour.

But only if they work together as an electable bloc.

16.11.2025 16:51 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

She should be ashamed.
'Golden ticket'!!
With the mess this country is in at the moment wooden spoon would be more appropriate.
Immigrants & their offspring throughout history have made this country prosperous.
If migrants want to be here & work, they will be valuable citizens.
Can't she see that?

16.11.2025 16:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The only reason I would stay is the hope of influencing the party.
I am glad I was still a member so I could vote for Lucy Powell, a strong woman with good Labour principles. I hope she fulfills her promise.
The Greens & LDs are not electable yet & we need some sort of bulwark against the right.

16.11.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

Recently there would have been no place for Mahmoud in the LP. She'd have been in the Tories, right of centre.
It saddens me that we're picking up people like her because Johnson destroyed the Tories.
If people work hard & to support the country, they'll be valuable citizens.
Can’t she see that?
