With Tom Lehrer's passing, I suppose this is a moment to share the story of the prank he played on the National Security Agency, and how it went undiscovered for nearly 60 years.

Some know me as Thøger, some as Emil. Doesn't significantly affect my personality. I like Space and music and I have opinions which are strictly my own, but I love to share with others who don't always love me back for sharing them.

Kender det. Selv arbejdede min mor ikke om sommeren, men vi havde sjældent råd til at tage nogen steder hen, så vi var mest hjemme og havde sjældent noget spændende at deltage i snakken med.

This article is talking about an ideal beach body so I think it's time to grow a carapace and six extra legs.
Any tips on scuttling.

At our demonstration today, I'm holding a placard stating
"I support
Palestine.
Action
must be taken."
My aim is to highlight the absurdity of the government dictating what can and cannot be said by peace-seeking people
One of the reasons the MAGA movement was so successful is because they welcomed people in that felt the Democratic Party wasn’t meeting their needs.
Trump used faux-populist rhetoric and his movement welcomed people in.
We should learn from that, we don’t have to compromise our values, either.
Campaign for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, and the doctors of Gaza.
Personally, I think the Nobel Peace Prize is so tainted that it doesn't deserve someone as upstanding and steadfast as Albanese, but OK

Building a movement strong enough to overthrow the system without outside meddling is a necessary step to make sure you have something strong and coherent enough to put in its place....
I hope you understood that my meme was sarcastic.
It's the "There is no war in Ba Sing Se" thing.
The NATO member parts of Europe are more than capable of defending themselves already, so no, when we more than double our military budgets, it is obviously not a matter of defense, but of establishing dominance.
The only people who benefit from this arms race is the US and EU military industries.
And yet it seems strongly preferable to US- led "regime chance", as the experience of most of Iran's neighbors clearly shows.
I don't think there's a single of Iran's neighboring countries I would rather live in than Iran. And no, this is not an endorsement of the Islamic Republic.
... And do you sincerely believe that a military alliance between highly aggressive nations suddenly becomes peaceful and defensive just because it promises it's only for defense?
01.07.2025 23:24 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0You are talking about Europe as if it were one political power which it is not. European NATO member countries on the other hand have been busy as aggressors since WWII. And while NATO or "Europe" were never invoked as formal belligerents, NATO networks, weaponry and expertise certainly has.
01.07.2025 23:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Russia will not accept a NATO expansion in their previous sphere of influence, and have been very open about that. You can say that should be each country's own choice but that has never been the case anywhere. NATO insisted and duped Ukraine into thinking they could win a war over this question.
01.07.2025 23:18 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Your question is built on at least one false premise: that there is an imminent risk of Russian aggression against the rest of Europe, and that NATO can in any meaningful sense be said to be on the defensive relative to Russia.
01.07.2025 23:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I recommend you look deeper. There is a pattern, but it's not "Putin loves wars".
Even if we assume, for the sake of argument, that Russian aggression against main Europe were a major threat, we already outnumber and outgun Russia significantly. We don't secure peace by chasing dominance.
It's funny how it's always us who oppose militarism who are called "naive", as if there's anything particularly savvy about paranoid delusions.
Your childish cartoon fantasies of white hats and black hats are deadly dangerous and highly irresponsible.
That strongly depends on what you want to put instead.

01.07.2025 22:15 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Well, latest polls showed that 80% or more of Israeli citizens supported the "war effort" in Gaza. And you'd be hard pressed to find any political movement of note which actually wants to let Palestinians have a state. The protests are not against the occupation, but the way Netanyahu handles it.
01.07.2025 22:15 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Sorry but no, France is nowhere near as influential in the EU as Germany is - if nothing else then because it has a much less stable and confident political leadership.
But I really wasn't singling out Germany out in a moral sense - as a Dane, we are at least as bad; just less influential.
No, it has not. Certain EU member countries, but its de facto leader, Germany, is true to tradition supporting the genocide to the hilt.
