The deer thing IS kind of a coincidence so it makes some sense that they're just kinda tacked on. In S2 you find out he was killed when he was mistaken for a deer while getting rid of a body in the forest. I think originally he was probably supposed to be a wendigo but those became problematic.

Replacing the drive is a trickier repair since you'll need to get into the computer itself, replace the drive, then reinstall windows. Depending the size of the drive it's probably about $100 to 200 for the new drive. If you take it to a shop likely another 1 or 2 hundred for the labor.

Yeah I understand. It can be intimidating. Most important thing is to make sure you have a backup of everything you care about. Either to cloud, or thumb drives/external hard drives to protect the important stuff.

Sounds like the drive may be beginning to fail. Probably a good idea to back everything up if you haven't already done so at the very least. You'll likely need to replace the drive. You can try to check the SMART status using a tool like crystal disk info. Be careful though there's lots of fakes.
