Slept from 3:30 'til 9! Good luck tonight, mid-storm Marta now. Got some shopping this am before it started, now hatches battened. Presidential election tomorrow, likely winner, Seguro lives here. Election party in the Cultural ctr, tomorrow 7pm. May pop in, hope to to see Ventura thrashed. 🀞🏼🀞🏼🀞🏼

This is the result when your country mixes up video games, movies and reality TV with real life.

If the UK media now do not apply equal harsh measures to Nigel Farage than they did to Angela Raynor, then they are complicit in
a) a Mysoginist narrative where men are forgiven and women 'should have known better' and
b) are actively saying they are okay with Farage in charge.

A huge bowl of fruit, some yoghurt, a cappuccino and the gulf of Thailand. That'll do nicely for Sunday breakfast.

Spent the weekend in Brussels with my great-nephew Michael, as a reunion for the Euro branch of the family. Grand-Place is amazing and like a potted reminder of my Europe in the Middle Ages Uni section. The Magritte gallery was great too, even if it did make me work hard (not my favourite artist)

After a nasty bout of Norovirus followed by an equally nasty child this week, I've woken up this morning feeling fine.

I'm on holiday from today. Brussels, Oslo and SE Asia here we come. But first, packing then a night in Lisbon. (3/3)

And there is a bit of good news:

Syria has declared a five-year transition period which includes rights for women, freedom of expression and justice for Assad victims. (More)

BREAKING: The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University has reneged on their commitment to host the @sciencewriters.org annual conference and withdrew their entire financial support.

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

I've done it twice. Go with a book or something to keep you occupied if not called. First time I got called as soon as I got there and was on the same case for a week. Second time I hung around for a day, got called for a short case then hung around for the rest of the time.

I find myself agreeing with Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey (and Germany and Scotland). It's taken an autocratic crazy from the USA to make them all look like the voice of sanity and reason.

So the USA is now an imperialist, colonising, plutocratic oligarchy. That's not something I ever imagined I'd say.
