Today we took a small sample of birds due to the inclement cold weather. Body condition and their mass was really good, which shows they have been feeding OK. The adult female Blackbird has a 'continental' longer wing length than our resident birds, suggesting it has crossed the North Sea.

Confirmation bias when helping people. This chap posts some pics of what is clearly a female Sparrowhawk on a wall in a garden. The vast majority of people come back with Sparrowhawk. He now thinks it's a Goshawk. Aalconery centre apparently backs him up. So it must be a Goshawk.

Arrrrrgghhhhhh

Oh well. COVID nearly killed me. Was in intensive care with it back in Dec 2020/Jan 21. No other reason than my immune system apparently runs "hot".

Am I worried? For me, no. For others, yes.

My love of ringing Swifts (Apus apus). It won't be long before this little one is over Central and West Africa.
