I started my hike at 3 a.m. to reach Emerald Lake before sunrise. Using my headlamp, I spotted a dead soldier and captured the moment with my camera. The flash lit up the mountainside, and I wondered how it appeared to hikers further down the trail.

My Minolta P&S has a finicky AF. There's no light or beep, but its clearly picking distances. When it gets it, it get's it. But it's often wrong.
