My idea right now is lightning behind illuminating the wings while light night crackles around the head/horn as it’s ready to use its lightning breath

After a few days away not looking at my drawing for my blue dnd dragon I decided to try something else. I realized I was putting all of my dragons in very similar poses, so for this one I wanted to try something totally different.

Happy thanksgiving everyone! To celebrate I thought I would share some of my fall/wintery landscapes that I have done

I hope all who celebrate have a wonderful day with friends and family, and eating copious amounts of food.

First time painting in oils in over a year, there were a few days of rust to brush off, but after I few paint sessions I think I am starting to find my groove. The mountains are almost done, next up will be painting the city

After taking a step back and mocking up a 3d model of the dragon I am back on track. I began thinking of turning this sketch into my take on the blue dnd dragon. What do you think?

As I added more detail to the dragon, I started to lose my way a bit. So I decided to open up Nomad Sculpt and make a quick 3d model to help me understand the perspective. I think I am back on track

the 3d model helped me get the twist of the body back, it now looks like he is in a 3d space again

More work on the color study. I really wanted to have as much information as possible when I go to paint this traditionally, so I spent some extra time really figuring out how to handle the buildings.

Now all that is left is transferring the drawing to the painting surface and start painting!

Dont worry guys, I still paint and draw dragons!

James C Mulligan is going after vids and people who call him out for selling AI images. He’s using copyright as an excuse to get them removed, which is so baffling considering he’s a serial tracer. He has claimed official Bambi background art as his own, but there’s so much more.

More progress on the background. Those mountains are starting to look Pre-tty good if I dont say so myself.

This metal has been retired for a couple years, but I had a couple requests for it come in at gencon. Its like seeing an old friend. I always liked this piece, and boy does it look good on metal

I know the consensus was to go with the daylight colors, so I have to disappoint you all in choosing the sunset colors. What sealed the deal for me was wanting to play homage to one of my all time favorite landscape paintings, this Thomas Moran painting.

One of the absolute coolest things ever is seeing people walking around wearing your art.

I got to experience that this weekend at dragoncon seeing the graphic I made for the dragoncon blood drive
