I've had a good afternoon at my writing desk! I've written a blurb for my next novel and a two-page outline as well. I need to do a lot more work before writing my 5th novel, but the bones of the story are in place!

Thank you, Shona. I've had a very gentle week, but no celebrations yet. My sister has a long weekend this weekend, so I've delayed my traditional 'Let's share a bottle of Prosecco because I've finished my book' until this weekend! 🙂

On Friday, at 15.40, I finished the 1st draft of my 4th novel. Since the 12th of January, I had written 21,409 words! I'm still recovering, but I'm very proud of myself.

I think I have about 12,000 words to go, so it is doable! I'm not actually expecting to be shortlisted, but it would be sod's law if I did and had nothing to send! 🤣 I'm really enjoying the writing. I've had the ending in my head for ages. It's nice to finally get it on the page. 🙂

I put the novel in for a competition, months ago, as an incentive to finish, but I've had problems with my health that have prevented me sleeping. Without sleep I couldn't write. The shortlist will be announced at the end of the month and they'll want the full ms, so I'm trying to finish!

I've written 10,005 words this week. I've nearly finished the first draft of my fourth novel and I'm thrilled. I'm going to aim to be finished by next Friday. 🤞🏻 How has your week gone?

Today started with housework - it can't be ignored forever, sadly - & ended with my first ever yoga class. I thoroughly enjoyed the class.
In between those 2 activities I did some sprints with my online writing group and wrote 2,107 words. I'm very pleased.

A friend contacted me yesterday to say her mum was too ill to go to the theatre & would I like to go. The production was 'A Boy Called Christmas', a story I absolutely love. So I spent this afternoon at the theatre, which was a wonderful way to say goodbye to 2025 & look ahead to 2026.

This is a wonderful read. Beautifully written with lots of humour, despite the subject matter. It made me simultaneously laugh and cry at one point. I didn't even know that was physically possible!
