Europa Clipper observes…. Mars? Yes, on its cruise to the Jupiter system, Europa Clipper swung by Mars for a gravity assist and captured this cool image of Mars and its two tiny moons.

Ganymede's cool and all but Europa has a giant ocean of liquid water - more water than all Earth's oceans combined - close enough to the surface to interact with it, great chemistry at the icy surface from radiation, and even more chemistry at the rock layer at the bottom of the ocean.

NASA’s Europa Clipper: Millions of Miles Down, Instruments Deploying Headed to Jupiter’s moon Europa, the spacecraft is operating without a hitch and will reach Mars in just three months for a gravity assist.

Awesome news from Europa Clipper, which launched on October 14th. It's already traveled 13 million miles (!), and has successfully deployed its magnetometer boom and radar antennas. Next stop is a Mars flyby on March 1st! www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasas-e...
