Yes, schedule pressure was a significant contributing factor to the Apollo 1, Challenger and Columbia disasters. But it was definitely not the only factor and it is also true that without some schedule pressure nothing ever gets done.

And for good reason.The senseless war on science including potential irreversible damage to NASA missions that will occur if programmatic decisions are carried out on the basis of the White House budget request & not the actual budget is another huge concern of mine. But that’s a different article.
