A word can't be a slur if it's referring to an inanimate object. "The new slur for tables" what are you talking about

Seeing a number of good reviews coming in for SKETCH, but I'm having a really hard time getting over the Angel Studios of it all (a/k/a the faith-based distributor who most famously released SOUND OF FREEDOM). I know they're only a distributor, but I've had a solid run of not giving them any money.

JCS at the Hollywood Bowl was a—fittingly—religious experience. Incredible cast, terrific production, Cynthia Erivo absolutely shaking the earth to its foundations with “Gethsemane”. I’ll remember this forever.

Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. Unbelievably hyped for this.

Standing up for the smallest of minorities is important because when you accept the premise that one group are expendable because small or ‘insignificant’, you have accepted the idea of the expendability of human life in general, and the enemy will use your acquiescence to pick off yet more.

Ended up seeing it at Garden Walk on Thursday night and I was definitely laughing more than most others there. Want to see it again, hopefully with a more engaged crowd.

Lindsay Ellis recently made the point that, structurally, Splash Mountain was all about building tension towards the drop. I was the center of the whole experience. Now the main experiential moment of the ride is weirdly vestigial and the story basically doesn't address it.

Re-watching SEVERANCE S2 for a potential project. During the press rounds for this season, has anyone asked Theodore Shapiro about the “Woe’s Hollow” motif that sounds uncannily like Davy Jones’ theme from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies?

I want a new Key & Peele “Liam Neesons” sketch about the new NAKED GUN.

Imagining a depressed Christopher Nolan wandering around Park City in 1999, his head hanging low while “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend” plays in the background, all because The Blair Witch Project was just SO damn good

I am exactly online enough to know that there is some dumb internet brouhaha centering around Sydney Sweeney, but not enough to know *what* it’s actually about.

(This is not an invitation to explain it to me, I sincerely do not care)

Beyond the ethical issues (it's bad!) and frustrations over Mankiewicz shilling for it (that sucks!), when you go look at actual clips of this thing, it looks like utter dogshit. All the texture of film and intentionality in framing gone and replaced by smoothed-over faces and AI slop backgrounds.

There is the actual Democratic Party, which for better or worse is a mostly ordinary liberal political party and then there is the “Democratic Party,” a synecdoche for everything that annoys you online.

The Newsboys were one of the first bands I saw in concert (I won tickets by saying a Bible verse real fast for a radio contest). I always found their POV unique and funny, esp in the era they worked with Steve Taylor

Then at some point a DC Talk man turned them into Christian Imagine Dragons

Looks like the thumbnail for a Netflix comedy special featuring some hack complaining about cancel culture.

There’s a real “Reddit Atheists” quality to people who continue to harp on how AVATAR left no cultural footprint even after two movies that have collectively grossed over $5 billion and a wildly popular theme park land.

I mean sorry but if you want a better world you’re going to need to respect that some people are atheists and some are agnostics and some are Muslim and some are Jewish and some are Christian without losing your shit about it the second they mention it, like this guy isn’t faking it

Insane that after billions of dollars, hundreds of jobs lost, dozens of canned projects, and five years of grief, the ultimate net result of the whole Warner Bros. Discovery debacle is that Discovery now owns CNN.

28.07.2025 20:21 — 👍 9    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

It was all for nothing. All the canned projects, people laid off, countless hours of work and films and shows thrown away. And the end result was just "Yeah we're back to where we were before it began."

This is going to be somebody's Joker origin story moment.
