Something folks often get wrong about 500 DAYS OF SUMMER is that it's actually an optimistic movie about love and romance. Both characters find a chance at lasting love in the end... just with other people. Not every relationship is built for the long haul, but each one can still have value.

Every time we lose someone from The WB era, a little part of me dies. James's death hits particularly hard because he was practically the face of all that. He was also so much more, but I hope he knew how beloved he was by so many of us who grew up watching him. RIP.

Each film in the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER franchise tries to one-up the dumb convoluted ending of the movie that came before it. I respect that.

First episode of A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS was a bit of a snoozer.

I don't fault people for posting about things they love in these dark times. It doesn't mean they/we aren't engaging with the horrors of the real world. Joy gives life meaning and is the 'fuel' we use to fight real world battles. Anger alone won't suffice.

I like HEATED RIVALRY, but I'm not here for QUEER AS FOLK slander. That show was doing similar storylines decades ago. For example, there was a whole story arc where Emmett dated Drew the closeted famous football star and had to figure out how to exist in that restrictive sports world.

The Golden Globes 'Comedy' categories get nuttier every year. PULP FICTION and AMERICAN BEAUTY weren't nominated as 'Comedies'. ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, MARTY SUPREME, etc. shouldn't be either. That category used to be for movies like LEGALLY BLONDE and BEST IN SHOW. Welcome to Hellscape 2026.

This category has always been sort of a joke, but at least 25 years ago they were still nominating actual comedies like BEST IN SHOW, BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY and LEGALLY BLONDE. This really is a dark timeline we're living in.
