that’s very cool! I work in queer history (as an academic) and one thing I love about ao3 is the way it prompts us to think about fanfic repositories as literal archives of queer desire

it’s such a fascinating part of fanfic history and a really cool way to track changes and continuities in gender and sexual norms

This resonates but I wonder if class plays a role? The vast majority of students I know (mostly working-class young adults) have never been hungrier for knowledge. They know that AI is a scam. They're angry & eager to learn. Perhaps it’s different for those who attend college because it’s expected?

is it just me or is pluribus a clever meta commentary on the relationship between writers & fans? from the opening book reading - to the slippage from love potion plot-notes to truth serum antics - to the global fandom hivemind vs the “anti” - to the grumpy/sunshine trope writ large? plus lesbians ✨
