Midwesterner. Skeptical, particularly of "economic anxiety." Trying to stay open-minded but generally, they are who we thought they were. Michigan fan. Very disrespectful to Beck.

Well, their family members might!
In all honesty, when I've read interview, that group seems real appreciative of the song, even though it originally got a couple facts wrong. My guess is anyone who loves that song is considered a trusted friend & agent.
I remember that quote! I was afraid for a minute there some surviving son or daughter of the Fitzgerald would hear the quote & get offended by it, but luckily no one brought it up.
Just a well-meaning, but dumb, quote by another football guy.
I know you know this, but the fact this man called a Canadian folk singer's dirge about a real-life doomed freighter "a real toe-tapper," and meant it, is a thing of beauty.
A wonderfully insane football guy.

This is an abomination (even if it were done more skillfully, as I'm sure it will be in 5 years). Can't the lawyers from some estate sue and stop this nonsense?
The US could see a 30-40% decline in new international student enrollment, resulting in nearly $7 billion in lost revenue and more than 60,000 fewer American jobs. https://www.nafsa.org/fall-2025-international-student-enrollment-outlook-and-economic-impact

Isn't just his time of the month? The end of each quarter, he makes the rounds, and says how great the economy is and it would be even greater if other countries weren't so mean & unfair to us, and the remaining Deep State folks need to resign.

I don't know how to wrap my head around the reality that players will, very soon, be making close to $100M a year.
QB from TCU's opponent, the University of the Incarnate Word, enters the huddle:
"OK, guys, coach says we need to pass. I'm going to take the snap, look off the safety, and then hit Harold on a stop & go"
"I don't think their safety's moving, Stanley"
"Yeah, he's pretty disciplined."

Yes, N Main is very car-focused (though I wouldn't call it a highway; way too slow). Is there some viable alternative for the thousands of people from out of town who use it every day to get to the hospital? They're not biking or walking there.

FWIW, the Lions bandwagon is always taking new members. We even share the color silver.
They’re just so juvenile and unprofessional. And this is a team worth, what, $10 billion?
I’m a Lions fan and they were OK to mostly terrible for 65 years; they finally got good when William Clay Ford died. So you have the right idea, hold on at least a few more years. You have my sympathy.
Let us know how it tastes!

I'm afraid it will taste like mushy Doritos, but who knows? If you can't experiment with dinner in a box for $1.50, what are we even doing? Gotta live a little.
Current front page of WSJ. It has in big letters on left, "Trump Orders Firing of Stats Chief After Week Jobs Data" in big letters on the left, but the main thing dominating the page is a picture-perfect slide show of "The Conservative Women Who Are 'Having it All' with pictures of well-dressed white women with their kids and husbands.
Even the WSJ (news side) is not up to the task.
If after a bad jobs number (a big story in itself) the US President responds, Politburo style, by canning the person in charge of providing the numbers, that should be an ***EMERGENCY*** across the fold situation.
That's not what they're doing.
She's not even been on the board for 2 years!
Is she ill? Long-term family emergency? Because those are the only reasons this should be happening, and the given reason of "return to academia" (if that's all this is) really sucks.
Not impressed by CNBC's, I gotta tell ya!
They consistently provide "LOOK AT THIS!!!!!!!!" numbers without providing any context. Is 73k higher than expected? Lower? Who knows?
I like many of the anchors, but their visual presentation of numbers is dog-poo.
I really don't think so.
Being aware the number revisions that are high are a problem is far different than "we've been discussing her for months."
The latter shows, if true, competence & planning. I'm going to need evidence of that.
bsky.app/profile/se7e...
I know you're just reporting what they tell you, but there is no reason or evidence to believe "The possibility of firing her had been on the President’s radar for months.
Is there any proof Trump knew this person's name before today, let alone discussed firing them?
I was just informed that our Country’s “Jobs Numbers” are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s chances of Victory. This is the same Bureau of Labor Statistics that overstated the Jobs Growth in March 2024 by approximately 818,000 and, then again, right before the 2024 Presidential Election, in August and September, by 112,000. These were Records — No one can be that wrong? We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can’t be manipulated for political purposes. McEntarfer said there were only 73,000 Jobs added (a shock!) but, more importantly, that a major mistake was made by them, 258,000 Jobs downward, in the prior two months. Similar things happened in the first part of the year, always to the negative. The Economy is BOOMING under “TRUMP” despite a Fed that also plays games, this time with Interest Rates, where they lowered them twice, and substantially, just before the Presidential Election, I assume in the hopes of getting “Kamala” elected – How did that work out? Jerome “Too Late” Powell should also be put “out to pasture.” Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Unquestionably the most dangerous and corrupt attack on the independence of US economic data in American history. Trump is firing the head of the BLS, a longtime civil servant confirmed 86-8 by the Senate, simply because the job numbers came in below his expectations today

Data (if collected correctly) can't.
They will, and I mean this literally, "do their own research."
JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Allianz and the rest all have their own economists & researchers. They certainly relied quite a bit on govt data as a baseline and a market mover. Now, they will have to figure it out basically on their own.
