Totally, the Shadow Rising reads like a screenplay. It's very tight, four concurrent and interesting storylines that pay-off and offer character development, and expand the story scope. Even books 5 and 6 will need a lot of editing for screen, and books 7 to 10 are as tough as 1 to 3 to adapt.

I didn't like the E02 opening for just that reason. I had the thought that maybe Morgase won't be killed off and will have a fuller arc. In the books it never felt like she needed to be humbled, she was a good person who had bad/terrible things happen to her. Here her character has room for growth.

Really nice questions, the new aspect ratio and improved aesthetics have been mentioned a few times now, you really allowed them to wax lyrical on that. They both seem to respond so well to book fans, a real testament to all the background reading they've done. Looking forward to the rest!

Oh snap, my reading comprehension went walkabout. Well you left before it got really boring at least! That's probably the weirdest thing that happens in the series, Mat being.. yeah, and the author playing it for laughs?

Others disagree but the first book is not great. Like second worst book in the series for me. The last 1/3 is good though, it really picks up the pace once they stop going to so many inns. If you don't like book 2, you might not like the rest of the books, but you just want to get past the first...

I don't believe Musk thinks the human race is going extinct. The planet is literally full of people. We've been adding a billion every dozen years and it hasn't slowed down. So it's clearly racial coded language, the number of white people (humans) are decreasing. Urgh.

Listening to most audio audiobooks I just waddle along. Listening to Rosamund Pike I'm all ears, sitting straight and unable to do other things. It's wild. Just wait till she does her battle cries!

I used to love him as a teen too, maybe as he felt so unusual for a fantasy character back then. Then on rereads he's not that unusual - after book 4 he just mopes and regresses before Sanderson picks him up. I'm enjoying him in the show though, he probably has my fave storyline this season.
