Here is a thread about a true police-shooting incident that I'm going to use to pose a fun little thought problem for anyone anywhere who think there ia a single justifiable reason to ever allow a law enforcement officer to use force on a citizen and remain anonymous. From my back pages:

I cannot stress enough how, if you like fantasy, epics, action, good movies in general, Indian cinema, and/or RRR, you REALLY need to catch BAAHUBALI: THE EPIC on the big screen this week.

Don't worry a bit about the run time, we hard-coded a ten minute intermission into the DCP and the film ZIPS.

At the intermission for BAAHUBALI: THE EPIC and my short review so far is this shit rocks.

Every conservative on Twitter today:

β€œI brought my Nordic wife and our cherubic triplets to Washington DC for January 6th and as soon as we stepped off the plane we were bullied by a group of reefer-smoking greasers who made my wife a porn star and turned my triplets into non-binary baristas #MAGA”

New York Times headline: "Is it Time to Stop Snubbing Your Right-Wing Family?"

Above the headline a photo of the vampires from Sinners, asking to be let in. The photo has been modified with a downward-facing word balloon to create the effect that the vampires are speaking the headline.

This is so fantastic!

@thegrandcinema.bsky.social is the theater I mention in the opening of my @metroweekly.bsky.social cover story about first seeing Brokeback Mountain two decades ago.

I’m so happy to see an independent cinema like the Grand flourishing. There’s no better place to see a movie.

We are sorry to announce that we have to cancel all screenings through Monday, April 21 due to a building-wide emergency. This is a big financial hit for our single-screen cinema. Please consider making a donation today to support The Brattle: brattlefilm.my.salesforce-sites.com/donate/?dfId...

The one venue I'll sort of miss at Sundance is the Holiday, a creaky four-plex with generally good vibes in the tent and decent picture and sound, only dinged because each theater had about 24 seats.

The Hitchcockian Wonders of β€œMisericordia” Alain Guiraudie’s intimate thriller, about sex and death in a rustic village, bends classic tropes into modern forms.

The French director Alain Guiraudie’s new film, β€œMisericordia,” β€œis an exceptional experience,” @tnyfrontrow.bsky.social writes. β€œThe story is logical yet wide-ranging, and it pings and sparks with nuances of behavior and character.”
