🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING: In a dangerous evening escalation of the anti-porn war on the gaming industry, indie platform @itch.io has banned a number of NSFW titles and delisted thousands of others.

Trans authors are caught in the crossfire.

MasterCard, Visa, and anti-porn group Collective Shout drove the ban.

People keep telling me that I shouldn't be mad at @itch.io, just the payment processors.

They are fundamentally misunderstanding why I was up until 4am reporting on this last night.

Itch is withholding trans authors' incomes. If you stiff my girls, then yeah, we have a fucking problem.

I do not create NSFW content myself.

However, most of what I do these days is make music for games which would be considered NSFW, often just because they include LGBTQ+ characters.

Simply *being* trans also makes me inherently NSFW in these peoples' minds.

On Spotify, and listening to and collecting music As an artist I have my music on Spotify, because I feel like I cannot choose not to.

But for "all the music" streaming services, consider the following:

Deezer
Tidal
Apple Music (which works on Android too!)

and even freaking YouTube Music and Amazon Prime Music are better for the artists than Spotify

Mirlo Buy and sell music directly from musicians.

Better yet is to buy your music and own your library. mirlo.space and bandcamp.com are great places for that. If you still want streaming convenience, Plex + PlexAmp are free, and Jellyfin is opensource if you're a bit more jank-tolerant.

Reminder: If you're listening to music on Spotify, you are not paying the musicians you are listening to. Instead you are paying Joe Rogan and helping Daniel Ek to fund the war machine.

Literally any other streaming service is a more ethical choice and most of them support the artists way more.
