Woke up at 5am to a rejection from an agent I really liked.

Then I pulled myself out of bed, walked the dogs, and wrote a bit of my next book.

Fuck this system. I will make it through.

It was a lovely weekend with my family, and I love my nieces and nephews so much. But the Loki flash fiction piece I'm working on is pushing me to new (and kinda scary) places.

Still gonna do my best, but I think for tonight I need a break.

My weigh in on the controversy is that I am going to watch my little queer cartoon instead of wasting what precious time I have for joy and relaxation arguing about semantics over a shithead.

I have been grieving hardcore on top of a slew of rejections, but today I wrote a piece of flash fiction about Loki, e-mailed my editor about polishing it for @icaruszine.bsky.social, and sent out three new queries.

I’m 42 today and grateful for the wisdom to know when I need to slow down. Grief and trying to get a book published are a hell of a combination.

Right now I have been taking solace in carving a goddess pole to Hel at my Viking camp.

They are! They are from a silver smith at Faire whose things I have been eyeballing for a couple years, but being sterling and a bit pricey they were a “wait for the right time” purchase.

Gonna be real though, after a decade of doing this, I’m tired from Faire in new ways. And I’m not even talking about the cooking day. Grief is wild.

I've honestly had so much fun any time we've done stuff, even when it was silly like Nandor and your bear Kigu. Definitely excited to do Castlevania, but I'm really excited for HH. It's been a long time since I've had a project like that and I think it will come off really well

your motivation is now to be snarky demons with Monty, you're welcome.

jk jk I do know the feeling though. Especially with cosplay it's hard to get motivated, but doing stuff in a group helps.
