It’s only ever fascism for the victims, Tom. Not for those for whom they just haven’t come, yet, like that poem goes. Tell the children being zip-tied that it’s not fascism. Tell the Hispanic American Citizens being wrongfully deported, detained, imprisoned, and disappeared that it’s not fascism.

Listen for dangerous words. Be alert to the use of the words extremism and terrorism. Be alive to the fatal notions of emergency and exception. Be angry about the treacherous use of patriotic vocabulary.
