Pretty sure name Isaac Stein indicates he's jewish. If so does this latest PC rule apply to Black people too? MUST I now spew hate at any Black who speaks "the N word?" That's a more clear-cut case than shyster, which people retroactively decided is etymologically racist, despite lack of evidence:

So you're not interested in discussing (or even thinking about?) the tactical reasoning he lays out or the downsides - to you all that matters is looking "bold" and citing other people who support it.
Convo's gone nowhere, so I guess not more to say but that's literally Trump's modus operandi lol

The only specific example of "subservience" this article presents is that the EU reimposing sanctions on Iran in September. Before then pointing out they bucked the US by some recognizing Palestine state, and they simply CAN'T do other things because of Orban & constitutional consensus requirement.

ps. So if MD delegation goes from 7-1 to 5-3 for Dems, are you still going to feel good that "at least we TRIED?"
You're not advocating risking the birds in the hand for two in the bush here, but the two in the hand for the one in the bush!
Declining to launch a foolhardy attack isn't "surrender"

K. Scoring at home, one dose of hate each for
- low prices that steal business from other vendors
- prices double other vendors
- that a self-described HS nerd named Isaac Stein who works for govt & furloughed is secretly a frat boy somehow angling for big $ corp job by opening a weird hotdog stand

Why the hate? I don't get it. Just because he has a law degree? Nothing in article warrants it, guy sounds like he's just trying to keep a sense of humor & brighten other people's day with his bizarre menu & pricing
Curious if either or you even read the article before posting your attacks on him?
29.10.2025 10:19 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Yes, he explained his reasoning in the 3-page letter that is linked in the article. But I sense most others posting replies haven't even read the summary in the article. Let alone read & reflected on reasoning in his letter.
Enough of this naive & counterproductive "Ready, fire, aim" mentality?

Ferguson cites pragmatic reasons for not attempting to redistrict a state that already has only a single GOP House seat. In fact that IT MAY BACKFIRE?
Say why you disagree with what is presented in article & his 3 page letter. Not just allude to "sticking to norms" - something which he DID NOT SAY?

As someone so concerned about his immortal soul, did you read the 5,000 word "memo" in which he explains what he means?
29.10.2025 00:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
He's NOT saying "climate change isnβt bad."
He's saying there are other priorities which he's focusing more resources on
Did you read his "memo" before you posted this?
I'm not going to claim I read all of it. It's over 5,000 words. But I read enough to understand that. I didn't just read a headline

Nonetheless, Mamdani is horrifying the leaders of the Democratic party. Chuck Schumer still hasnβt endorsed him. Bill Clinton has endorsed Andrew Cuomo, who is spending what are probably the last days of his political career indulging in the kind of racist, Islamophobic attacks weβd expect from Trump.
I respect you deeply. Also, to be blunt, I've always despised Bill Clinton as a human being (he was the last Dem POTUS nominee I didn't vote for in the general)
But I still find this statement in your editorial deceptive. Clicking on the link for Clinton's endorsement shows it was for the primary

Maybe a precedent here that the GOP might want to think through more first?
If a President can merely be accused of being unaware of what was done in their name in order to declare their past acts as President null and void, well then ... hmmm ... things may get interesting in 2029 (if not before).

Trump Complains About Magnets in Unintelligible Rant
Donald Trump thinks magnets donβt work.
Presumably what set him off is that he found out the E in EMALS stands for electroMAGNETIC?

EMALS isn't a "dud." It's simply new. Ford & the Chinese ship have kinks to work out, but advantages are numerous: faster launch cycles, capacity to handle wider range of aircraft size/type precisely. By yout defn, most significant new tech is a "dud."
And steam catapults are what our other CVs use

GOP Operative Explains Why He Finally Quit the Party (w/ Miles Bruner)
I watched Sam Stein's interview; while it still didn't clarify many things for me - I recall it was around 20m where Stein straight out asked "Why now?" & answer wasn't clean (primarily "I couldn't face telling my kid someday that I did it all for a paycheck") - I did find him at least authentic

Post from WH about Chicago "in chaos," showing scene from another state.
A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

This is a problem with Raw Story: too many headlines/articles written to drive clicks instead of convey accurate information.

Trump administration intentionally cut the budget of the IRS in the Big Beautiful Bill, & DOGE fired IRS employees, to make it easier for tax cheats like Trump to get away with crap.
So intentionally sending $1 less just to create more work for them seems, at best, just playing into their hands?
21.10.2025 20:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
To pay them, the Trump administration appeared to route the funds from two specific tranches of money that Republicans approved as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the presidentβs tax package, according to two people familiar with the matter. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to share information that the White House has not publicized.
One fund, totaling $10 billion, was set aside for the Department of Homeland Security to reimburse its work to βsafeguard the borders of the United States,β the law specifies. Another, totaling about $3.3 billion, was allotted to the Justice Department to combat drug trafficking and illegal immigration, and defend the Trump administration against lawsuits in court, according to those familiar with the plans.
Because those funds are limited in some ways under law, the administration appeared unable to use the money to pay all of the employees at a given agency, essentially creating a new class of worker in the shutdown.
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, said last week that the administration would pay some law enforcement officials at the Transportation Security Administration. But the budgetary maneuvering did not appear to include the thousands of workers who screen bags at airports for security threats. Similarly, only some of the correctional officers at the Bureau of Prisons are set to receive pay, while many must continue reporting for duty without it, according to personnel and email records viewed by The Times.
David Super, a law professor at Georgetown University who studies the budget, said it was βunusualβ that Congress even approved money in this manner as part of the tax bill. He said the legality of its use hinged on an unanswered question: if the Trump administration only paid law enforcement officers whose jobs fit the criteria outlined in the law.
The article suggests that at least part of what they are doing is enabled (is legal?) because of some unusual things that Congress approved in the "Big Beautiful Bill" (read last paragraph in particular)

I differ with the "no excuses" aspect, but otherwise does seem potentially courageous (TBD; if he's trying to land gigs at Bulwark, MSNBC etc it might seem calculated in hindsight)
He says doesn't want to, then lists some anyway (student loans, supporting family, etc). Valid perhaps, but not "none"

...It's illuminating what he said in one tangent, he was pro-life until his wife's non-viable pregnancy experience. Though he's even vague here.
I see this a lot of GOP, even "principled" stands on things like abortion melt away when it impacts THEM. Which takes me back to "why NOW, specifically?"

I appreciate that he stepped forward and owned his past mistakes. I don't want be critical of a positive decision by delving into how he got there, but do wonder "why now, specifically?" That's not really addressed. Was it ENTIRELY his choice? He never describes the decision? (I did kinda skim it).

The president has a long history of tearing things to the ground. He was, after all, a real estate developer.
In 1980, he ka-blammed the old Bonwit Teller building on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan so that he could raise up Trump Tower. He promised to preserve the treasured limestone friezes atop the old building but then went and jackhammered them into oblivion, infuriating the cityβs beau monde.
He went to the β21β Club with the Vanity Fair journalist Marie Brenner and asked her, βWhat do you think? Do you think blowing up the sculptures has hurt me?β
She answered yes.
βWho cares?β he replied. βLetβs say that I had given that junk to the Met. They would have just put them in their basement. Iβll never have the goodwill of the Establishment β¦β
In 1966, his father, Fred Trump, tore down a 19th-century amusement park in Coney Island. Trump pΓ¨re threw a party at the demo site, complete with bikini-clad, hard-hat-wearing models. He handed out bricks for people to chuck at the glass front of the parkβs pavilion, a beloved local attraction known as βFunny Face.β

BUT a "sworn affadavit" signed by pseudonym "Tiffany Doe," who no one knows the identity of, and only known from a flawed/withdrawn court filing of pseudonym "Katie Johnson," who no one knows the identity of either, & isn't even notarized, isn't worth anything.
